" Imagine if the company would have hired electricians? We would be toast. "
LOL at that nonsense. Yes they would be able to run cable according to the local code. That's it.
What makes you think that an electrician - with no disrespect to anyone belonging to that trade - knows how to pick a pair? Troubleshoot lack of channels at customer's prem? God forbid run patterns on a T-1 and understand how to analyze them in order to pinpoint the trouble? Splice a failed 900-pair cable?
There's a lot of things that these people are good at, but our work is not one of them. Vice versa holds true as well.
The sense of entitlement you people have is astounding. It's a good thing you have the union because you wouldn't last six months in your position without it protecting you.
The sad thing is you'll be bound to VZ forever, which means until they sell the rest of wireline to Frontier or AT&T. Stuck to a job with a company that treats you like garbage because you can't get hired anywhere else.
We were strong as hell, nobody crossed or even thought about it. In New York unemployment was about to kick in so the hard part was over. We would of held the line a lot longer.
The reply is accurate. The scabs are complete buffoons, though, and they are responsible for the contract as well as perez. Imagine if the company would have hired electricians? We would be toast. Instead they went for southerners from florida and texas.. Idiot redneck trailer trash hicks, THEY are why we r back next week.
Are you a scab? I can afford to stay out for months. Most people can't. You have not seen the written proposal. Will it be great? No. Will it be better than your non-union neighbors? Yeah.
Lowell had us on the ropes in this fight. If sec Perez didn't intervene we would have been done. Doomsday would have been evident. The worst didn't happen - you lost a lot of cash. Tighten up for the rest of the year & get over it.
Plus as a union leader said to me the other night - "stop buying 7 series BMWs without a contract".
