After we all learned the strike was 'over' our shop mgmt made several statements. About how she appreciated us and how we treated the customers. Not that you could tell any of this in how she treated us as EWAs. Literally said the Union force were babies and refused to do jobs she assigned and her only way to make them was by suspending the workers. Sadly with this kind of shop mgmt mentality things will never improve. There seems to be such a big divide within house and POOR mgmt skills is an understatement. Wish every one the best. I'm ready to go back to BAU where I am treated better and appreciated.

The disconnect between " the numbers" and what really happens is sad. To keep improving the number at the 1st level one tech is loaded with " easy work" and troubles. So each time they cheat the system it gets harder and harder to cheat. If we really let the Dexter work( Dexter is a system designed to pre load techs with an 8 hour day of work). When mgmt goes in and moves work around it then creates another fail . So then the Mgrs get mad when their tweaking doesn't work .
OP here. I seriously hope that after everything settles down that they are held accountable. If anything this shows that not everyone is cut out to be in mgmt and those that are need to be held accountable. Sure your numbers of tickets closed is important. But so is your employee turn over and employee complaints. I pray it gets better for you guys. And. I worry all the BS spewed here and elsewhere about retaliation on both sides is just that. BS.

I haven't seen a technician promoted into a management spot in a decade in my neck of the woods, which is a pretty big one. The people they hire these days are mostly coming from the Army/Navy etc. and are absolutely clueless about what are getting themselves into, on all levels.
For months before the strike, Vz Web was a chock full of openings for 1st level managers all across the footprint...that kept on getting re-posted, time and time again. No one who knows what these jobs entail nowadays wants one, regardless of the compensation package involved.
We don't need people with degrees in management, we need people that know the job. I took a management job for 6 months, and came back to my tools. It was flattering that they wanted me, but that wore off quick. The people that get now are never the best technicians.
For all the remarks made here by EWA's about the educational level of the union worker I would like to say that a good percentage of us hold degrees and very few took management when offered. The reason include the treatment the lower management by middle and upper management of whom many don't hold degree related to their title themselves. I know many first and second liners holding high school diploma's or at best a associate degree in an area of work not meant for managing people. I know two union members who sought out management but were denied the opportunity. Best guess is that they were better qualified for advancement each holding MBA's. I wouldn't expect a director or a high school educated VP to put someone in the pipeline that they might have to report too. The wire-line side of the business has been set up for failure well over a decade ago. Wireless will ultimately be completing with wire-line in the near future.
The divide between upper management and employees is pathetic for a company like Verizon to treat employees the way they do is unheard of and it wasn't always this way
They have 1st level managers so scared to even voice an opinion to 2nd or 3rd levels because they fear they will be riffed
