Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

THE RUSE

Financials lost some luster, new plan is to buy time & Yahoo, "the Wall Street 2 additional year expectations " While AT&T has a huge debt load as the result of acquiring DTV, the balace/ debt ratio sheet is not available for review from its acquisition of DirecTV Group.

YP Holdings, now a digital advertising business, is AT&T’s former print yellow pages unit. Cerberus Capital Management controls YP Holdings, though AT&T still holds a stake in it.

"I figured that $VZ started talking about about buying $YHOO just to mess with $T and to rope it into that mess."

You may be on to something. T-Mobile's John Legere is now calling Verizon and AT&T "Dumb and Dumber" - he used to think it was the other way around (this might have something to do with AT&T sending a few billions of dollars T-Mobile's way).

Their positions switched not because Verizon had become smarter but because AT&T had become dumber.

That's an interesting take!!!! If you know AT&T has ADD and shiny object syndrome...ropping them in as a competitive strategy (and ultimate setup) is brilliant actually.

Keeping up with the jonses 101. Comcast bought dream works recently. Even Verizon is trying to evolve with AOL..AT&T wants in this content space with no cohesive idea on what it all looks like and how to make it work.

Speaking of the foundry, there could be content video/print/online news that talks about what the future looks like. At&t could craft the narrative and shape themselves as leaders in innovation.....but Randy's everywhere and nowhere all at the same Damn time.

Digital Life: https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20150816/11335231972/ats-long-history-fraudulent-abusive-behavior-apparently-no-concern-to-nsa.shtml

AT&T and other carriers mobile pay: ISIS. oops

Number one search engine: Google.

Netflix 30% of internet traffic, other streaming combined on peak hours exceeds 70%.

I don't know, maybe customers just would like to have a high speed, secure Internet connection from AT&T.

Should AT&T do what it can do best, connectivity, or should our leadership chase after shiny objects that they have little grasp on. Dumb pipes aren't sexy, but they are necessary.

What does time buy??? Are we waiting for Randy and crew to come up with a way to monetize "something"? Waiting for this software company to take shape?? Maybe now AT&T is Internet company??

What happened to the foundry (s) ??? That was a truly interesting concept, inviting developers in and collaborating on emerging tech?? Or the e-health thing?? Connected car apps software?? What's going on with that stuff???

All these fast pivots are so all over the place. Why can't AT&T stay the course with 1 or 2 big ideas. ...for a 1-2 years.
