Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The details we were told when the picket lines were closed down at 1:45 pm.

We have an agreement in principle with Verizon and vzw, it's a 4 year contract with 10.5% in raises, 1500 jobs added to the footprint, fap and art 8 as well as transfers across state lines has been withdrawn. $1250 hra/bonus. And cps intact. Pole contracting withdrawn too.

This is how I giot it through Union chain. Sorry for the grammar, it was a text after all..

Also, the cnn article stated that no change in pension, and new contract paves the way for unionizing wireless side. Another article said wireless got increases and gave no concessions.

"This time we worked with no contract for the first time in history. "

Incorrect. Once the 2003 contract expired in 2008 we continued working while the new one was bargained upon.

"then the raise might get applied to whatever hours we put in before the strike."

Huh. No. We were still working under the terms at 2012 contract at the time.

In 2011 we worked with contract extension and possibly got retroed our raise back to August. This time we worked with no contract for the first time in history. I do not think we are entitled to retro raise due to not having a contract since August. I think the new contract starts in June from that point forward, but I could be wrong. We will have to see. If it goes back to last August and we won a raise for the current year, then the raise might get applied to whatever hours we put in before the strike.

"no back pay? if not that is a huge loss."

Wait what? I've been through several strikes with this company and its predecessors and we've never gotten back pay. I don't believe that anyone in their right mind would ask for it either.

The only time that VZ was forced to shell out backpay on a major scale was when its layoffs of 2002 exploded in their face in the summer of 2003 and they had to bring everyone back with back pay. That was it.

Why the heck do you think you are entitled back pay? That's just dumb.

no back pay? if not that is a huge loss. The one good thing about that is some ppl will be in a different tax bracket for tax season, unless they make it with OT.

Medical? Probably more. Still less than Obamacare marketplace I hope. Anyone know if vz paid our June premiums yet?
