I didn't realize till now that VA DC MD DE and PA were in the Northeast US.

I know people in LA, San Diego, Denver, Detroit, Fort Worth, Houston, Baton Rouge, Georgia, NYC, Baltimore, and Syracuse.

The only ones that are aware of the strike are those in the northeast. The rest of the country has no clue the CWA exists let alone that you guys are striking. It’s that simple.

Keep talking to your limited circle in the northeast, and keep telling yourselves you are a big deal. It won’t make a difference. Wireline is regional, and wireless is national… the nation hasn’t heard about your tantrum.

Remember its only the NE that Verizon has from Boston to Virginia that's the real heart and sole, one of the reasons the Mid-Atlantic wasn't sold. I would stay if these jackasses would sell us, but i digress.

Anyway,the people that know the best are the CUSTOMERS... AND AT&T because that is where all the new biz is going. MY POINT IS the organization is extremely concerned about social opinion because if this information goes VIRAL and STICKS it will cost hundreds of thousands of millions to repair and for a long time. Remember good habits are as easily learned as bad, and once the general public has an opinion, its over. Its pretty tuff stuff when you get caught pissing in the customers face little man behind the curtain... Isn't that right Lowell.

I have sent messages to different friends at home (that were wondering where I was), and not a single one of them was aware there was a strike going on with Verizon. Not even one.

So I definitely agree with what folks are posting here. This whole thing is a non-issue outside of the Northeast and even here coverage is not front page news. Union folks are complaining all over Facebook about it. At this point, the strike really only matters to those on strike, and the replacement workers filling in. Very few outside of that circle of care.

@HAwSnxz-czm , you are an example of why Verizon loses discrimination lawsuits and why there is a need for union. You don't know how to control your insecurities. Your mother must have been a powerful woman in your life. Go seek help.

Sorry to break the news but people DO know and DO care. Just because the mainstream media, which is owned by a total of only 6 corporations, doesn't cover the strike doesn't mean people are uninformed. In NYC we are getting overwhelming support from the people. That is a fact! How would you know who knows or cares anyway? What do you travel the country and do surveys? Do you have a psychic powers that lets you read people's minds? It sounds to me that you are just a bitter a--hole who didn't have the ability to stand up for yourself when it was needed. Taking the side of a corporation that wants to rid America of good paying jobs just because it can sound like an ill informed person to me. I guess mommy and daddy beat you when you were younger because you sound your will is broken and just want to show your master that you are loyal. You have no dog in this fight so go do something constructive and leave your room and talk to people. You might actually learn something.

I have been on EWA for close to 7 weeks, and people back home still don't even know Verizon is on strike. You all are living in a fantasy world. Go somewhere other than the NE and you will realize that a majority of American, hard working Americans (because you all just love to include that in your arguments) do not care about this strike

Exactly… friends and family across the country were unaware of the strike when it began, and they have consistently been unaware of is progress (or lack thereof) as it progresses.

Coverage in my city was limited to 4/14/2016… to paraphrase the story… it’s not wireless, so it’s not affecting any of us.

Go ahead and google it… the only coverage you see is some wack-o socialist websites, and local newspapers. On top of that, you have to be aware of it in the first place to google it.

NYNEX/Bell Atlantic Maternity Suit Settled

March 4, 2002

A settlement in a pregnancy discrimination suit brought by CWA and others against the former NYNEX/Bell Atlantic companies has received preliminary approval from a New York federal judge.

The settlement calls for additional weeks of service credit for women who took a pregnancy or maternity leave from the companies beginning at any time between July 2, 1965, and April 28, 1979. It also affects workers who took a newborn childcare leave between July 2, 1965 and Dec. 31, 1983.

Class members who file timely claims and related documents will receive the adjusted credit and, if applicable, adjustments in their pension benefits.

CWA President Morton Bahr said the "settlement will finally fulfill the promises of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act for thousands of current and former female employees." Noting the extensive investigation and negotiations that went into reaching the agreement, he praised the parties for finding "a solution that serves the best interests of class members."

The basic benefits for all class members are: Seven weeks of service credit for each pregnancy, maternity or care of newborn child leave between July 2, 1965 and Aug. 7, 1977; two weeks service credit for such leave between Aug. 8, 1977 and April 28, 1979; and two weeks service credit for leave between April 29,1979 and Dec. 31, 1983.

No.. There is no public opinion bias anywhere except maybe in the NE. Most of the country has no idea you are on strike, nor do they care. Every time I talk to family they ask if the strike is still going because it gets no press at all nationally.

Maybe if you guys didn't have jobs with contracts that expire we wouldn't be in this situation. Work like real men and don't hide behind your union daddy.

No one is about to cave. Not the company, not the union. Just accept the fact that the strike could continue on a for quite a while, and both sides appear willing to accept significant financial losses.
