Reading thru various posts reveals a small number of those who were not cut and try to justify this Reasons given range from being a hard worker to being dedicated to being productive to the company trimming "fat" I actually feel sorry for them because they don't see the full story I've been with this company over 20 years and have seen many dedicated and hardworking folks been let go. These are the same people that saved the company, and I exaggerate not, hundreds of thousands of dollars with their innovative ideas and many of them put their marriages at risk because of the time they gave to the company. Please don't think any lesser of those who were impacted by this latest company craziness and wish them Godspeed and good fortune.

Safe is a word that lasts as long as the next layoff. Reality is no one is safe. Call centers will be outsourced and as is already being done if not quietly in some areas , contractors are doing the work employees once did. Can anyone tell when a contractor does a job? Does anyone watch the cell sites to see who is doing the work. does anyone think ATT will train its own people to do DTV work when contractors are low cost.
When trainers are told to work with people in India or some other country do you think it is to help with the workload here? If a person calls into the center do you know if it's an employee or contractor? did they tell you they are contractors?
The people who work here are all good and should be treated better but when the bottom line is all the executives care about then this is what happens.

Yep good post. I was a high performing employee, star awards, service awards, accolades....I drank my own kook aid because I thought I couldn't be cut. Well a few months ago I was LOL....
I'm still a little salty because it's counter intuitive to believe you cut high performers. My direct manager was shocked. Literally I was giving him pep talks because he was afraid too and my layoff had little reasoning except i pissed my director off 3 months prior. All is well, I'm making more money and less stress. My weight is even down...that cortisol stress hormone is a mfer.
Lesson learned. Don't drink your own kook aid esp at att...the tide turns so fast, lots of variables in these layoff decisions that have little to do with "performance" or "innovation". Hell, you can rub a director the wrong way just by having respect from your peers or an identifiable nps comment.
