I hear a lot of threats on here. Point is I like most people here value my family more than this Union of spoiled kids that never grew up. I'll do what I have to to take care of them. The company knows it has about 15000 workers it doesn't need. The company will do what it needs to to balance the number of people to the amount of work it has. It's simple business 101. It's simple. If the Union can find the company a way to save $1.7 billion a year. I think we could all come back. Are we all willing to take a $21/ hr pay and benefit cut to keep everyone on the payroll? I doubt it. So, stay out. Be replaced. The company doesn't care about you or you collectivly. They look at the Union workforce that something that's broken. It their opinion it's cheaper to replace it than fix it.

It's only week # 7. No one said that this was going to be a short strike. In fact, most locals have been advising their members to save as much money as possible since a long strike could be around the corner...for a couple of years now.
There are people in my shop who were given 30 day suspensions before the strike and no one has complained yet. One either understands what's at stake here or they don't. It's really that simple.
Just make sure you resign from the local 1st, or you could be fined. Once strike is over, you can come back without any repercussions. Best of luck, I know it is not an easy decision.

I'm crossing tomorrow. If I thought there was a chance a contract would get done, then I'd stay. But I won't take my family down due to this brother and sister crap. The union made a bad decision to strike and I can't stay out any longer.
My house is paid off, taxes paid up for the year, car and credit cards are paid off and my utlities are cheap, I'm in no danger financially at this point and even if I was, I would find a new job and wouldn't dream of crossing the picket line. It's called being smarter than trying to keep up with the joneses.

All of sudden I have the urge to cross now. I feel like I may be taking my kids down with the ship!!! Anyone, else feel that way. It's like out of the blue. Payment due Jun 1, sure, no prob, fill out the paperwork and wait a few weeks for approval. Credit dinged, and then you have to pay them back, so they're not doing u any real favors...

Mgmt slave here, talked to a union crosser the other day that came back because the Union would not pay for a medical procedure for their newborn. They called it an elective procedure. I was pissed for him. The union does not seem to have their brothers backs when it really comes down to it.
