Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Don't cross the line people. The June 1st rumor is hot- wait until after then before you decide to cross

Anyone that has read this message board knows that the June 1st rumor has been all over the place. This rumor has gotten TRACTION. Due to that fact we do not know if whether this is true or total BS and just fodder for people that like to toy with people's lives. Being the Verizon corporate culture that half the time a rumor is true & half not, I say don't make any decisions this weekend- please relax, save your money, let's see what happens next week. We may be back stronger on the picket lines or we may be back at our desks and sorting through 1000 emails- me personally I have never looked forward toward reading a thousand emails until now.

Better cross now before its too late! Union leadership is using you as puppets and picket monkeys. They don't care if you work or not, but your kids do. Don't give up the best job you'll ever have. Your options are limited like your education level. You'll be selling shoes at Sears soon. Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....Better cross now....

How about decide for yourself whether or not to cross? It's your family and livelihood. Blindly following the herd won't put food on the table. The longer you're out, the less likely you'll be coming back at all. Working at Subway might be an option though.

Wbq-

We have some common ground here, even though we are 180° apart in our current situations. I am on EWA, so of course miss the family, but I too have found my stress level to be drastically reduced over my BAU job. I must confess that it is making me think about reassessing what I want to do going forward. Personally, joining the union would just not be for me (no offense to anyone here, it just doesn't fit my personality), but doing this type of work has actually been a bit refreshing and a nice change of pace.

In any case, it is nice to see some honest and civil conversations on this board instead of all the ranting, raving and insults flying around. Best of luck to you and everyone else. My hope is that a fair conclusion is reached....whatever fair is I guess will be decided by those in Washington DC right now.

Of course this has been financially stressful, but I have to say when you get 6 weeks to see what it's like without being monitored, GPS'd, metricced, forced overtime, forced Ndays (so never a free Saturday), forced transfers, constantly threatened, sat down, suspended for ridiculous things, receiving tons of corporate email propaganda etc, it's been refreshing. I've been able to see my kids off to school, my wife off to work and spend time with my family. Also got some repair work done around the house. My overall stress level has been so low, I am now looking forward to retirement even more. Just need 3 years and I'm out the door.

They won't walk away from the table. That would public suicide.

That be as likely as you walking away from this board.
