Union. What do you hear from management at work? Lies and BS. What do you read on this site by management? Lies and BS.

Verizon is suffering. The CEO just said so. He's also apparently giving up going after Yahoo.

That's not good news, considering what were told prior to the last week.

Sorry for what I'm about to say but you truly are as ignorant as some of these posts say. You pick out one line and that is all you see. My message was simple. You THINK Verizon is suffering and will fold. That isnt true and that isn't going to happen. EVERY sign leads to the realization that Verizon will get rid of a lot of good techs if your reps don't concede. All I asked is that you and the rest of your Union "brothers" don't try to make life miserable for anyone that needs to work and does what they need for their family.

Hey, you were called out by several people for saying you completed a triple play and several have pointed out that basically, all you explained was a generic cable/no VZ FiOS installation.

That and after 6 weeks, all you learned how to do is run coaxial cable, plug in a set top box and program a remote control.

So you didn't really do the job. We get it. Nice try.

Evidently you can't read or possibly you don't want to believe a job you must labor over can be done without too much trouble. Please tell me what part of this job was done different than the triple plays you've installed. The only part we didn't have to do was the drop from the hub but evidently you make it much harder than it has to be.

All you did was mention coaxial cable, set top boxes and remote controls. You described a Cablevision or Comcast type of non-FiOs installation.

So basically after 6 weeks, all you know is how to run coaxial cable, plug in a STB and a router.

Yeah sure, that's it lol

Are you sure you on the right message board?

Not sure what part of my reply you didn't understand so I'll make it easier for you. We walked in and the cx didn't have video, data or voice services. After we installed, activated and completed testing 5 STB's, the data and the voice all services were working. The cx had exactly what they ordered. Not sure where you came up with 20 people. There were two of us with the exception of the fsc tech we talked to when some STB's didn't activate right away. So if that is funny to you I guess you shouldn't come back to this type of work.

lol if all you did was survey rooms and run coax, then you really didn't "do" a triple play for all intents and purposes.

Sounds like 20 people were involved from the way your are describing it.

djv, I assume this is a test to verify what I say but I'll tell you anyway. After we covered the job with the cx we surveyed the rooms. Found the location of where the ont was supposed to be (had to install that too) then we toned out the coax that was in place had to put connectors on all the coax. Installed the ont, bhr, ground block then the STB's. Ran coax to the two rooms then started the activations. Had the cx do the TOS then tested everything including each tv with the new remotes. Of course there are other steps with adding a different ont but not a big deal.

Hi, manager here too. I'd love to hear the details of that triple play from start to finish. What did you do and what was the process?

dnu, this is vmq again. I know the majority of installs haven't been released yet but they will be. I went on a triple play install with another EWA to see what the big deal is. It took us 2.5 hours to complete 5 STB's running 2 of the rooms with coax and of course the data and voice. I think this would be considered an easy install but 3 of the STB's took several attempts to activate. The only reason I'm telling you this is a hope that if there are Union techs that NEED to cross other members won't harass them. Believe it or not, Verizon is prepared to go the distance and a lot of good people could have their livelihood taken away. I don't care if you come back or not just don't judge the techs that have no choice but to protect their family.

Thank you, but for the most part, no installs are getting done.

Nobody is catching up.

Everyone knows that lol

Manager here...XWO, not sure who you're getting your Intel from but it isn't true. Some of the new contractors are doing the same FIOS jobs as management and catching on quick. On the help desk I've seen a big decrease in field calls for basic issues. I'm in one of the large CO's in Manhattan and the techs are a bit bored waiting for more installs to be released but they are starting to flow. Some EWA's (like me) are tired of NY but not too tired to keep doing this at least another month or more. The morale is still quite high. This weekend the majority are returning home for some R&R but again I don't know anyone that is at the breaking point. Not even close. I disagree with most of the "entitlements" you're fighting for such as guaranteed job security but you have a right to fight for your beliefs. I have no ill will toward those of you that have respect. I do hope the rumors of locking you out aren't true because most of you are respectful and I'm sure greatful for a job that supports your family. For those of you that want to call me names and talk crap about my post go ahead. You won't hurt my feelings.

Truth at street level is the hired contractors don't give a crap. No one checking the work and so far most have not received money from Verizon. Some are leaving because they can't pay their workers but new contractor arriving everyday. Of course the word will get out that Verizon is slow to pay. Those contractor without deep pockets will get burned.

Temp employees have the same attitude. Short term work for out of state workers who have no intention of staying/moving into the affected areas. Take the money is their attitude and let the Techs fix what they can't when it is over.

EWA's are at a breaking point. Only those with no life, no wife, no kids and no future and facing a RIF are content, but they too know it is short term.

Lowell is in command of yet another failed venture to add to his list.

Whether you're management, temp employee, contractor or union worker, it's a loss all around.
