Why Is Verizon Using A failed "Below Rank" TV Show That Went Off The Air 6 Years Ago To Promote It's Wireless Service?

30 Rock was, as in industry terms a "Below Rank" TV show that went off the air 6 years ago. It's not even in the Top 100 all time best TV show lists. Why does Verizon always do this? It embarrassing. Once again I'm looking at failure, to promote Failure I guess??

@iyx I guess you can sell that Sh*t to the executives. Seem to me they would know difference between market segmentation and customer segmentation or mass segmentation. Anyway you slice it big guy....Fail.

I'm surprised. You union guys really don't know anything about marketing. There is a concept called market segmentation. You figure out where your growth is and is not, and you hit hard where you want to grow. You tailor your advertising accordingly. While you continue to market to the large demographic, perhaps your research indicates that you need to find a way to reach certain niches in the broader market where you believe there may be more opportunity. So you put out advertising to reach these groups.

"Below Rank" has nothing to do with reaching the type of audiences that offer the growth opportunies that are available in our market which is fairly saturated. You market where there is opportunity that you're not already addressing.

@ape Rather Narrow minded since that show was ratings failure. It had a small faithful following. Is that what Verizon want's??

a lot of Verizon's purchasing decisions and marketing in general just seems like such a classic case of the old man trying way to hard to "be cool and hip" and failing miserably, not because the choices themselves were bad, but because they underestimate the intelligence of the consumer that aren't going to support or use a service if it's not actually useful or worthwhile
