Just saw in the news that AT&T is bidding to take over yahoo business. More layoffs for sure.

I remember listening live in a town hall 3-4 yrs ago when I asked randall via an email question, why we weren't curating smart content ....he responded we weren't in the content business we provide access/transport.
I never meant house of cards or orange is the new black. It wouldn't even have to be under Att's branded name.
But now Comcast (buying NBC) showed VZ and Att what was possible and that content is king. And here comes VZ which basically owns huff post. With att who now wants in....day late dollar short. Throwing stuff on the board to see what sticks.
@omv no I was just saying that the way that was written didn't build the story to fully explain what you were trying to explain. It was 0-100 real quick!
I agree though, ATT purchasing it is dumb if you look at what they are, but let's be honest ATT is trying to change a multi billion dollar company into something else. They are trying to become a media and content company and also power it as well. They will fail for the same reason why DTV won't work. People don't see ATT as anything besides a phone company.
@oni--- what's ur explanation??? Below sounds logical. t wants back in. They're trying to either re live days of old or the simply just don't want vz to have it. There isn't much left to explain.
I was in Internet Services when we bought Prodigy. We bought them in two phases, I think it was about 1.5 billon when it was all said and done and netted us around 3 million (mostly) dial-up customers. They tossed aside the brand pretty quickly once they realized it was worthless. I think the company hoped to further monetize those customers by selling them DSL back when Project Pronto (the big DSL push) was a thing. Based on customer counts in the years following that merger, I think most stayed on dial-up or went somewhere else.

Someone whose been around long enough (maybe mid 2000s) was feeling nostalgic. VZ making a play didn't help. All of a sudden interest in Yahoo grows.

Dont forget VZ bought AOL...more than ATT having plans for Yahoo and solid plans on becoming a tech company...they really don't want VZ to have it.
to me thats the biggest play.
But the kicker is VZ hasn't really done anything with AOL. Its like the blind following the blind. Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dumb or as the tmobile CEO calls them dumb and dumber.

I guess the good thing is we can't run it into the ground. It was already dead when we bought it. But when the 4 billion dollar bill comes due, I guess we'll pay with more jobs.
