Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

This Union is pathetic

The failure of the Union heads to resolve this matter is going to cause a lot if hardships on its members, most of which did not really want to walk anyway. How is that income going to ever be made up? The answer is that it won't, just like the lengthy strike in 1989. The thought of a prolonged strike is not a good feeling. How many members are really impacted by this ? I hope the Union is all over this,

What is a Union?

If you can't agree to the terms of your union, resign. Others can stay. Union leaders have one duty and they are fulfilling it ;Bargain in Good Faith. Its for your future and future of your kids and grand kids. This company has been around for decades because of the sacrifices of past union members called retirees. Your way of saying thank you is not to cross but stay strong so they can see a Dr one more day. Stop being selfish you are not the only soul

6 to 8 months? Some job titles get no overtime at all. We have bills and kids and the older they get the more expensive they get. Not to mention medical issues, child support, the list could go on. I agree you should have something but 8 months is not reality in this economy unless you worked 30 plus hours a week in overtime. It was stupid to go out mid month and put people in this situation anyway. We are on the same team here I just hope the union is in touch with reality.

If I could get a couple more months to catch up on projects around the house that would be swell.

It's all good, the Communist in Chief Odumbo has provide all of us a robust economy in 7.4 years so there are plenty of quality jobs out there. You just have to pick one. My God where would we be had our Union not told us who to vote for?

ask anyone who is a fios installer? we are treated like garbage forced 12 hrs a day doing installs untill 11 pm. so yes we will make up the money in no time when we go back. when your done at 5 and home with your family we will still be working. if you don't have an emergency fund for 8 months or more not our problem or the cwa. not talking about for the strike either just in general.

I've had about enough. Sure I could make it till June maybe July. I'm to the point where I say we can't have it all. We have a lot even under the current proposal. I'm tired of hearing people say we will break them before they break us. Really? They deal in billions a family deals in thousands and sometimes only a few. There is no way I would ever cross but I hope people running the show at the top don't say to the company you owe us a living. And to be honest I have never seen such stupid immaturity and hate than I have read on here. From both sides. Have a good day

It's only been 15 days.... my God people....Everyone should be able to go at least a month with no income or your living above your means.

The union leadership is still getting a paycheck so they don't care. They are just getting their 15 minutes of fame.

The only losers here are the union people who have no income and no benefits. Everyone else, including the union heads and EWA workers, are making tons of money right now and/or getting their names in the headlines.
