Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What is an acceptable negotiated offer for CWA?

I support the union's stance if you are not satisfied with the offer. I've looked through the stand up to Verizon site but I don't see specifically what a satisfactory negotiated offer would be. What specifically are your non-negotiables? I don't need a bunch of dick-swinging answers...just interested in what would be acceptable. Thanks.

Honestly, the best thing the union could do now is agree to mediation. It seems like we have a good framework for the landline technicians. They could probably use a few tweaks here and there,(definitely has to go out til 2019 not 2018, not even sure why VZ would want to go through this same thing all over again in 2 years)but overall there has been some significant improvements on several key issues since 10 months ago. Looks, like the major hang ups are the outsourcing of jobs and the wireless contract. I really dont think we are that far apart that the company wants union people standing out in front of wireless stores any longer trying to tarnish their image. And, the union members don't want to lose their medical benefits or any more wages as well. So, go into mediation with what is on the table now as a starting point, bring everyone back to work on Monday, and continue working under the old contract until an agreement us reached.

The sad thing is most of what both sides want could be completed by volunteers, call centers could be manned by any of the million unemployed in America ,as for sending people to different stAtes to work make a incentive for volunteers you would get plenty ,let retirees man the call centers part time they know what to do .if the union could trust the company and vice versa the issues are easily solved

I would love to give you a straight answer and I can not do so. At this point with the offer that is being proposed, maybe there is a basis for mediation. A starting point if you will. My big take away from watching the videos is that the company want's to shutter many of the spread out call centers and move employees into more urban locations. There are too few employees in some locations and too many in others. this is a legitimate issue. They health care while being increased in cost is much different than watch I had seen posted in earlier offerings. One thing big red fails to do though is they seem to not have a clue as to the temperature in the room as it were. Their not negotiating. Their strategy is flawed and they seem to continually screw up in how it relates to the public. This offer should have been made in bargaining...I would recommend that all of the members read the proposal and see what you think.

I don't think CWA responds to people on here, so you will only get dick swinging answers.

Maybe you should contact CWA and ask them. That is if you aren't just another company troll.
