YA'LL need to explore your options. AT&T is not the company it use to be so be ready for change. There are so many opportunities in the US and abroad. If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready. Here's my list of things to consider:
Dump as much as you can into your 401k. The company will match your contribution by xx dollars. If you don't take advantage of this, you are throwing away $$.
Keep an updated resume restricted to 1-2 page max and be sure to include you "accomplishments".
Anything that you feel proud of, list as an accomplishment.
You are never too old to see another job. List your employment history to 15 years max.
Look at the job description and incorporate that into your resume for which job you are searching for.
Be open to new opportunities and take advantage of educations opportunities with the EDD if you are surplused.
Some of us have been with the phone company for many years, but don't be discouraged, there is life after AT&T. Our skills are highly transferrable. Good luck and try not to stress about being laid off. It's in Gods hands. #55with34yearsandhappy
