Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

7.5% raise over the length of the contract seems low.

I'm non union and got 12% increase just this year based on my performance. I've always got over 7% a year for the last 15 Years. Are Unions just for lazy non performers that want guaranteed raises for not being the best? If you are guaranteed something then why would you work hard for it right? Just stomp my feat until they give it to me! I thoughtthe most recent generation was were everyone got participation trophies no matter how good you were.

LMAO so this year you are at 12% and previous years above 7% for bonus. So lets even say 12% is your high (chuckle chuckle)......and you have averaged a bonus of 9.5% EACH YEAR for 15 years.

That sound right?

Didn't think so.

Thanks for the laugh.

the number is all wrong...it makes me laugh. this must be someone from union thinking management employee gets treated that well. Unfortunately, no... Since you have an access, you can read all from HR sites that will explain what kind of numbers are real. Workaround is different story though..Yes there are exceptions and workaround even with HR rule.

there are people working 50-60 hours without getting paid like you. I happen to be one of them. I don't have to do but I do to make job better...that's just my work ethic. I have been getting leading rating almost 6 year straight.

Yeah. this is a troll...

the average raise is 3% (on a good day), some high performers might get 4%.

You forget that this company bands your salary, which means you will hit a ceiling if you stay long enough... VZ needs to think outside the box...

@nef: It's clear you don't know how it works. Bumps to director don't get 20% pay increases. In fact they usually don't get more than 5%. But bumps to director have other perks that make it worth the jump even if the salary increase isn't much.

There are several people posting on here that don't have a clue how it works. Anyone who is saying they got a 12 or 20% pay bump (even with a promo) are lying. There weren't any bumps like that given out last year.

Anyone with access to the peoplesoft tables wouldnt be surprised the # of 10%+ raises people get a year. Those that can't believe they didn't get a big raise because of "company results" have no clue how the system actually works. Also. If you jump bands with promotions. It's even better. 20% or more for Promotion to Director alone.

from a person who actually sees the numbers, this is a horribly failed troll attempt.

OP could be telling the truth. Especially in a mixed pay band team. Bunch of 7s with Max band and a couple Band 6 at mid, the band 6 could take more of % of pool from the 7s since band 6 has a much higher pay cap.

It's all about negotiating. And yes if you are upper management you know how it works. You get a pool of money for your team for Merit increase and a Pool for bonus. I've always told my VP to give part of my % bonus to my peers in exchange for a higher % Merritt. Being leading has its advantages as its easily justifiable for why it was done. Say yes take 5% of my bonus and add it to my merit increase. 12% is easy.

I call bs also. You did not get a 12% raise unless you were a moron an accepted a lowball entry salary and they had to bring you up to the minimum for your band.

I can guarantee you that you're not a non-union worker. No one got 12% -- the people who got "Leading" appraisals only got 4.5%.

Sorry, but the pay increases are extremely well known to all management and higher folks and no one got a 12% raise. Even the people who leave the company and come back don't get 12% pay bumps. The fund pools for wage increases are very closely managed by HR and Finance and very well documented.

If you're going to make stuff up, at least lie about something that isn't so well documented.
