Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I'm reading you union sh-- heads crapping all over one of your own who has a daughter with a life threatening and horrible disease. I know because we have a close family friends who has gone through all the chemo, radiation and the horrible bone marrow transplant.

All of you crapping on him simply because he doesn't have the resources to be out of work should be ashamed. You are horrible, horrible people. I hope you all get locked out and never find work again after the things you've posted. I honestly can't believe anyone can be so sh--ty to another human.

If you are representative of the union I hope Verizon fires all of you who don't cross Monday and never lets you come back. Unbelievable.

All I know is that your sacrifice will result in a lot less money in the union pockets and a lot of EWA people with new toys or less debt. The union leaders will survive just fine since they aren't on strike, and the company will be fine because trust me they have had years to prepare for any and all contingencies related to the strike. As usual the ordinary people get to reap the consequences.

Maybe. But here's the thing: prior to the strike we had a good set of medical benefits in place which should've taken care of almost all expenses related to a serious illness within one's family.

Secondly, any CWA member with such a situation will have treatment costs picked up by the union. An advanced notification to one's local on the poster's part prior to the strike would've counted as a smart move.

Sorry about your daughter's leukemia, but who the hell cares. That is YOUR problem and not something the rest of us should have to worry about. Even with that situation you should have known this was coming and been able to plan for it. It's not like we just found out last week that the contract was up.

Spare me your problems. We all have someone sick in our family yet most people can still function well enough to plan for an event that everyone knew was coming.

Most of the folks on the picket lines share this sentiment. However, if we go back with a lousy contract none of us will be enjoying the job/customers for any significant amount of time.

My daughter just completed a bone-marrow transplant after being diagnosed with leukemia almost 2 years ago. I'm sorry if you think that means I'm not "disciplined" enough to save my earnings for a strike that has little-to-no purpose.

How dare you tell me people how they should have been managing their finances. I hope like hell you never have to go through what my daughter and my family have had to go through the last two years. You have no right to be judging others when you don't know anyone's situation. You can go F*** yourself.

@ukd, cross the line and be a scab for life. No ones's fault but your own that you are not disciplined enough to save some money over a 3 year period. I saved a ton of money and haven't even had to touch it yet. I've been making $500-$600 cash a week cutting lawns. More than likely you're not even a union member, just another VZ toad.

Sometimes the guidelines in agreeing to mediation is you can't strke.

We've had a strike. 2 weeks is enough time. Bring in mediation and let them do their thing. If we don't get results, then we strike again. If we end up working a month, striking two weeks, working a month, striking two weeks it's much more of a burden on the company than whats going on now.

Your view is your view, this is no game to anyone and to the 86% who voted to give the union the right to call a strike, and who are fighting the fight.

Yes, my choice is for my wife and three kids to have foot to eat, clothes to wear, and a roof over their head.

I swear this has turned into a game for some of you. You're letting your emotions dictate what you do instead of looking at things reasonably. If you choose to needlessly go without pay for months that's your choice, but I happen to like my job and the customers I get to see every day. I'm not screwing it up because someone can't respect authority and thinks the tail should be wagging the dog.
