Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Union counter-proposal was REJECTED

Union provided a counter proposal today and it was flatly rejected by Verizon. The company reiterated that the "last best and final" offer is already on the table. Looks like the company will outlast the union this time around. Time to seriously consider taking that walk across the line.

Maybe people in NY and NJ care, but trust me, outside of the union bubble across the nation, no one gives a crap if you're on strike or not. You live in your little union bubble and believe that the 12 blocks around your house constitutes "everyone". Shows how narrow-minded and ignorant you are, and proves that once again the union is out of touch and refuse to move into the 21st century. Guido and Gianni and the boys at the union hall dont represent the real world buddy. Catch a clue...

The real truth is 8 out 10 people that i have contact with support us. About 2 pieces of garbage out 10 don't . Most people truly do care. But there are always gonna be the few selfish a--holes that don't ! chances are they are real rich or they are extremely uneducated !

IDGAF if you cross the line or not. Stay out and let your kids go without insurance. BTW, if you don't get health insurance, you will be fined because of ObamaCare which mandates that you have it. So you're screwed either way you idiots. Funny thing is, you act like the public backs you; real truth is they don't care either way.

Why would you post crossing the line if you really don't want or need us? sounds like foolish desperation on your part to be asking someone back that you don't need.

Is Verizon greedy? Yes! Is the union asking for contract terms that are outdated and simply ignore the fact that this is the 21st century? Yes! Both sides need to take a good long look at what they are asking for and what they will lose if this goes on indefinitely. I'm sick of the union "poor ole me" routine, and Verizon needs to come to the table with a real proposal.

The union pushed their side to hard and now the company has taken a high ground stand for it. The only thing now for the union to do is accept the offer or go down in flames. All you union guys who have been screaming and yelling at us better take a moment to think.

One serious manager

I don't know why some people can't seem to have a civilized conversation and resort to kindergarten tactics. Maybe it's all a joke to you, but for some people this is anything but funny. I'm not part of the union, but I see many of my friends who are seriously worried, but are trying to hold on. I have other friends covering an EWA assignment and they are missing their families while trying their best to do what is asked of them. Neither side is winning this thing, and neither have anything to laugh or joke about.

It's quite obvious Verizon doesn't care about their workforce, I guess it is time to find other jobs and make this company replaceable. Yes the grass can be greener on the other side.

I truly feel that Lowell and his gang won't be happy unless this is the beginning of the end for the union. I think that's the real goal. He's going to retire in a couple of years, so he wants this to be his final negotiation and be able to say he led the fight to destroy the union. And, to make sure he packages up the wireline unit with a pretty bow to sell it.
