Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

CWA burned me. They will burn you too

I'm no longer in the industry but was a card carrying proud member of the CWA. I paid my monthly dues. I went on strike. I wore red. I lost my job.

The union masters at the top traded 30 call center jobs in "negotiations" to save 5 IR jobs.

I took it in the shorts because I drank the Kool aid.

I don't know if this is a good offer or not, but I do know the CWA is corrupt and will gladly sell you out to further their agenda and pad their pockets.

Put the pride aside. Deflate the ego. Review the offer with an open clear mind. Insist they put it to a vote.

If they won't, there may just be a reason for it.

Good luck and Godspeed to all those on the line.

Nah man. I don't work in telecom anymore. Too volatile. I left for greener pastures after I was offered up as a sacrifice to the union head God's.

I'm hoping they don't lead 39k people astray.

Whether it's a good offer or bad offer is an individual decision, demand a vote and let your voices be heard. Whether those voices say yes or no. The whole point of a union is to have a voice, no vote, no voice. If they don't put it to a vote, you may as well be working for the company.
