Verizon will give the union one last chance later today. Same offer. Then it's adios! On Monday Verizon will move forward with their cost cutting measures. Closing call centers. Pension and medical for union employees will no longer be an issue. This marks the biggest change in telecom since the divestiture. And a major change for US corporations as Verizon shows that you can indeed remove the financial drain of a union.

Company beginning to cave
@pju Fat chance. The company already stated they will cancel the Union's benefits as of May 1. There're
not going to pay for their insurance while they strike against the company. The company has stated many times they will not back down.
Anyone ever stop to think it's not just part of the spin the union is putting out? Whether they admit it or not, the union and company have been in contact with each other. They finally think they are close enough for mediation, but to save face, the union can't come out and say, "hey, we are going to meet with the company today, right before we REALLY put the screws to our members, and ask for mediation. The union wants us to believe the company came to them.
I wish I could say I trust our leadership, but to put is out on the streets in a short month and then to not have any real concrete information on Cobra, Obamacare, or health exchanges, it makes it hard to trust them. Heck, they are even saying the company might not even cancel the insurance!
Why does the union act like they know something management doesn't, as if management doesn't know there have been and will continue to be RIfs. That's the real world, people. And when that time comes, you take your package, and you find another job. You just hope you didn't screw around and not improve yourself. Those screwups do need to worry. So why is the union worrying so much?
Overall, I do not think that many people, give a crap about the union/VZ disagreement.
I do think, this is more of a PR move, then anything else.
Stuff is getting taken care of, as time goes on EWA workers, get more productive.
A lot of the EWA workers, do not manage anyone, but work in IT, networks, etc.
Fewer Union members, mean few managers, yes.
Let's hope egos (of the Union and Lowell/Marc) do not get in the way.
Wireline, is still a declining business.
GLTA
News flash for all you CWA'ers if you are successful in bringing the company down you will lose your pension.
@H8rTtDV-icm , I hope you don't work for Verizon, you are not an asset to them. You are actually hurting their brand.
Then Verizon will fail miserably I hope they do make this move the customer loss will be so massive they will never recover. Court of public opinion is worse than federal court.
VZ will make the same offer of mediation. It's a PR move to say the company tried to make a deal before the benefits ran out. Union is playing right into the company's hands.
Let me see if I can demonstrate some simple math for all of you 1st level management scabs. Less union members = less managers. Keep running out there and helping the company. Too stupid to see that you are cutting your own throats.
There is no quality work being done at Verizon, since strike started. When those bandaids come off it going to cause thousands of more troubles.
Lowell is getting to old to snap his fingers, jeez he can barely pucker up.
Lowell snaps his fingers and the CWA comes running to the table like an old dog hoping for a handout. But no, not this time boy. Not this time. You've had your last treat you'll ever get from this table. The tired old dog sadly slinks out the door and into oblivion.
So the company calls the union back to the table, only to give the same offer? Does that make sense, think before you type. Hey, glad to se you guys again, nothing has changed, do you want to return to work.
I don't agree with the OP. Why ask for a meeting , then offer the same thing? There doesn't have to be a meeting to do what. you state. OP , if it doesn't sound right it's not true.
Nothing would surprise me at this point.
