what's the source of this report/claim?
Of course the injuries are "on the rise" considering there were no EWA workers 3 weeks ago. Even 1 injury would be "on the rise".
But the company and EWAers are doing the best they can to replace the 40,000 that refuse to come to work. It's pretty galling because there are thousands of people who would love to have the union jobs. I can guarantee you that people's eyes are popping out of their head when they read that a Customer Service Rep makes $70k here plus a pension and 401k.
Union here...It is disgusting that this greedy company would send out office workers to work in the field w little training. Some of the work, especially line work can be extremely dangerous, and even deadly if you are unfamiliar with it. Guys who have been doing it for decades still get killed every year. It only takes one second to get seriously injured. If you feel something is unsafe, STOP and take a minute to think about what you are doing. Let's all get through this and get back to our regular jobs. I wish everyone the best.
You are correct. Verizon needs to train and supervise this situation more seriously.
Well let me upset the applecart as a union employee and say I hope none of the injuries are serious. These people have sons or daughters and wives and have no choice but to be there and doubt they want to be. So any union people who gloat at these revelations really are detestible human beings.
