Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory

The phrase can't see the forest for the trees comes to mind. Verizon practically has a license to print money. 1.8 billion dollars a month in profit, WOW! How stubborn and blinded by greed are these executives to not let the union workforce just fade away through attrition instead of insisting that they must get concessions from the very people that are making the company a kings ransom in profit every month? So now you've had a hundred politicians from Presidential candidates to Senators to state assemblymen weighing in on the poster child for corporate greed. You've also woken up the PUC's and PSC's, who had been asleep and oblivious for a decade, to your neglect of the copper network and your falure to deliver FIOS as promised. And the millenials, that you're courting so hard, probably wouldn't cross the street to spit on you at this point. Just a stupid stupid move.

Verizon is like every other company who answers to the stockholders. If you don't like how that system works move out of the USA because this is the system we have allowed, this is the system we condoned with our silence.

@H7e83av-wlo you win ignorant comment of the day, and shows that you obviously don't come from the finance department. Another way of pointing out the company's financial largese is to say that the company had CFFO (Cash Flow from Operations) of $39B, that averages to about $3.2B per month.

Even after paying down debt of $3B and a Divident of $8B, we are still talking about a lot of cash. Unfortunately the company likes to piss away billions on wasteful investments.

Short story long, Mr Finance Lite, there is a lot of cash available. The problem is that the people who who cheerlead like to stuff their pockets with lots of cash and piss the rest away on pipe dreams.

Don't forget landline workers are also reponsible for building and maintaining the best broadband/ fiber to the home network in the world. If you are lucky enough to get it??? The profit margin on wireline isn't as obscene as the wireless. Although, broadband to the home is just ad neccessary as wireless. Again, true story!!!!

Actually, dickwad, without the landline workers there would be no wireless. Believe it or not there are actual landlines that run from Central Offices to the Cell Towers. That is how the magic happens. Landline workers are more than just princess phones and whatever other BS these corporate clowns try to get you to believe. Landline workers have built, build and maintain the Billion dollar wireless network. Look it up. True story.

Let's look at the facts.

7% of profit comes from wireline.

Wireless profits are not there to paid the greedy stupid union.
