Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Saving the middle class.

So, to save the middle class you walked out, gave up two weeks pay, and will come crawling back to work next week agreeing to work under the expired contract with mediation, just like the company offered the day before you walked?

"except, the company is no longer offering the same contract.

But the newer one."

They were not offering the same (2011/12) contract to begin with, which is why the strike happened in the first place. The "new" proposal - which they are not allowed to withdraw by labor laws since it was their final offer prior to strike - is something that the union is not likely to ever agree upon.

"Wireline, does not make billions, how stupid can you get?"

Oh but they do. Have you ever bothered reading VZ's own financial reports? Didn't think so otherwise you wouldn't be posting nonsense of this nature.

"let your family suffer for naught. "

My family has enjoyed having me around for the past two weeks instead of having to see me according to VZ's abusive and nonsensical schedule. No suffering here.

"Hope you don't have to start looking for another job too"

Nope, won't be doing any of that. A contract will be signed eventually. Enjoying the time off until then.

Must stink to know you've followed the union execs for nothing, let your family suffer for naught. Hope you don't have to start looking for another job too. That would really stink. But the union will pay you til you get you another job, right?

Why should the union members have to give back anything to a company that makes billions of dollars a year? They are just fighting for what they were promised when they started their job. Keep up the fight union, these greedy corp a--holes will give in.
