Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

First off I'm not a union supporter BUT.....

The union is correct in one major point, Verizon doesn't give a crap about their employees. As a spouse who's back at home trying to keep the home front running all the while the EWA's are out working long hours, trying to do the best then can, and then the hotel situation hit! the company has done NOTHING to help these folks who have been kicked out of their hotel and are scrambling for a place to stay, all after working 12x7. Like I said I don't agree with what the unions are doing but this needs to end!

I am sure I am not alone, as a working spouse of an EWA I also have my own job that still needs to be done, my company doesn't give a damn that Verizon is on strike, My business trips still have to be done and now i'm trying to come up with a plan on how to do this. I have had to take VK time to help during all this but those days are winding down, I guess my kids are going to hop in the car with me and see the county side.

I am longing for the day that we can walk away from Verizon and get our lives back.

Well it's certainly tempting to just walk away, but that is not going to happen here. I want my wheelbarrow full of a large severance payout, full medical during severance, STI/LTI - not leaving a penny on the table, but looking forward to leaving after the strike. This company wants to hire young people and diversity candidates only. Time to go!

Lowell flying around the east coast this weekend taking selfies with people during a labor dispute shows how totally out of touch these old guys are.

Lowell wasn't looking that great either, a little on the frail side in his oversized suit. This great leader of ours would not even look people in the eye.

If the body language if our CEO is an indication of the stability of verizon, we are in big trouble.

I agree with union though I am a mgmt guy. This company does not care about its employees. All mgmt employees should unionize as well.

To the OP:

I am in the same position, so are many others. I have a full time job, but am doing double duty at home to keep it all together. I think the company treats all employees lousy, the decisions are concentrated at a high level McAdam, Stratton, Shammo Reed. Unfortunately they are all influenced and coached by outside consultants who collectively help them make poor decisions. Marc Reed was kept on mainly to get this labor issue resolved. He parked his butt at the Rye Town Hilton for over a year and got nothing done. Now, we have a company that is upside down. I would add Reed and Stratton to the RIF list. In fact, since VZ regularly RIFs employees over 50, all of these managers should go.

EWAs are out there working 80 hour weeks and getting harassed walking in while Lowell goes around in his private jet saying hi to V teamers.

Do it. Just leave. All of this pain Verizon is causing you will not be worth it in the end. There will be Rif's when this is over and Verizon won't care about you then either. This company is a absolute nightmare to work for...if you have any other options, take them and never look back
