I would jump at Union membership. As management in fGTE I had to tolerate verbal abuse with the manager screaming right into my face. When the second level went on vacation I was "ordered" to go around to his house and pick up the newspapers and dispose of them due to second level forgot to cancel home deliveries.

I was pushed onto the early shift Monday thru Thursday, but Friday the "old timers" wanted a longer weekend so I was made to work the late shift. Despite a wealth of knowledge, gained outside of fGTE, and with several certifications to my credit, I was passed over for a supervisor position because everyone liked my co worker, Kelly, who apparently had "people skills" and chatted to everyone and always arranged the incredible important " pot lucks." Oh joy, my job security and workload increased, as I not only did my job, but Kelly's supervisor job too. Life, as management, at fGTE was wretched and miserable.

I would have, and still would be, cock a hoop happy, if I was blessed to be one of life's "chosen people."

Union membership? Yes please, Thank you very, very much.

Do not want the clowns at Local 1108 telling me what to do. President is a joke and the vice president wants to run for office and forget about seerving the local. Two jokers.

Any union except CWA. Look how they are ruining it for their people.

This sounds like sour grapes from some lowmac kool-aid drinker. Most managers care about getting paid. Like everyone else. If a union does a better job at doing this than the company, and it looks like it does, then why wouldn't every manager join?

The only reasons that managers are afraid to join is that they are afraid to get fired if the company was able to keep the union from happening. But clearly, the managers would be better off with a union than with the current crop of execs at the company.

And you can record my IP address all day long, because I really don't care anymore. I sold all of my stock at $53 knowing that it could not go much higher given the current management.

Overall, I would say no.

The onlything I would consider joining for is job security.

I do not want the union to determine my pay, my seniority, etc.

But, that being said, if it could stop the offshoring of our jobs, I would have to think about it.

"It's funny same guy posted 3 different responses on this thread....Same Ip address...hmmm"

Two questions:

How do you know it's the same IP address?

How do you know what an IP address even is?

I used to be 100% against unions, but after being treated the way Verizon screws you around. I'm thinking it might not be that bad after all. At least I would have some say about things instead of just taking it and like it or else

I would join in a heart beat too. This company does nothing for managers except humiliate and screw them.

I would join In a heartbeat. Comparing our wages and benefits to the union's. We are getting screwed.

I do work very hard. My boss was riffed a few years ago basically because the second level didn't like him. Our crew had great numbers too. It's now how well you do but how many people like you in Verizon.

"Zero job security" ... that's the difference in Union vs Mgmt mentality:

Having a job is a privilege. Not a right.

Man up and work.

Oh ok, but you will follow lowell and his pied pipers. Where you have zero job security or pensions. Sounds like a great deal.

No way. Not a chance. Managers have a brain and can think for themselves. We'd never follow the CWA Pied Piper.

No one will admit to it, but I bet if a management union was put together the majority would want to join it. Like unions or not, they provide better job security and keep the company from encroaching on employee time. There are people who get texts on Saturday afternoon from their bosses and are basically on call 24x7; a union would put an end to that.

None. They want to still be able to look at themselves in the mirror after they pick up their paycheck and still like what they see.
