Do not get hurt on the job if you are a manager, because you move to the top of the RIF list. Saw it happen to a friend. He should have sued, but he wanted to show that he was a 'stand up guy. Now he's an unemployed guy. Moral of the story, do not trust this company. If you ever get hurt, lawyer up first.
zyc, if Verizon treats him any way they treated the manager that died in pole climbing school in Virginia it would be a tragedy. The spin that was flying around after he died was a sin. Short of blaming the poor guy for his own demise.

Why was that man up on the pole anyway? He was too heavy, out of shape, smoked and should not have been there. Had this occured in South Plainfield, it would likely have not happened.
So yes, negligence.

So one manager dies in pole school last year and another takes falls off of a pole in PA. Definite negligence. Where is OSHA?
That is a lotto case! This EWA worker's family will never have to work again. Gross negligence on the part of the company.
