No they're not. The dues are not the same even if one were to compare various locals over the CWA footprint on their own. And, first and foremost, these are different unions to begin with, each with its own set of rules.

Cobra is just sheer BS. Always has been. In many states there are options which are far more palatable than Obamacare as well. One has to devote some time to comparison shopping, though.

Anyone in their right mind knew that this strike was coming and likely prepared as well as humanly possible. Those who didn't...will have to be creative for the time being, one way or another.
IBEW827 used to bargain alone, contract date was different than CWA. We also had a "me too" clause if the cwa got something better. We were much better off then, should never have merged the dates. Now our bosses just bow down to the CWA.
I m not hating on union members when I say this. But you are crazy if you think union leadership will let you spend all of their money on this strike.They have to allocate for other strikers.

That money was partied away buy the union bosses a long time ago. Let's see how much you get. My guess is 1 weeks worth before they throw you under the bus in a New York Minuet.
That is their money now, not yours. They will only give you a few crumbs to keep the illusion alive.
IBEW is screwed. Should we decide to go back while CWA stays out, CWA will picket IBEW locations keeping IBEW out. They did it in 2000 and it was a cluster f. IBEW bosses getting mad at union members for "crossing picket lines" that were non-existent. You had one garage not working because of CWA pickets, but the remote reports had to go to work because there were no pickets. The IBEW leadership at that time couldn't grasp that concept and it caused a lot of animosity.
The union membership voted to give the executive board the power to call a strike when they saw fit.

Cwa should. Strike by themselves or give money to workers from Local 827. We get nothing!!!!!! All. 827 members should. Go back to work so Cwa doesnt get what they want....
We are supposed to stick together, yet here we have members bragging about how much money they are going to be making while on strike. Stay classy CWA.
I'm all set. What I make from the fund, savings, and unemployment covers the bills and a little extra just fine. Plus I'm getting all these home projects done. Love it! Keep doing nothing scabs.

Doing just fine here as well. Nice amount in savings. Strike fund kicking in soon. Wife's got a good job. Can even hop on her benefits if I need too.
I'm doing just fine too. Personal strike savings account plus defense fund and I am good. If it goes a while I'll get unemployment plus strike filing at over $800 a week! Plus I'll take 200 a week from my personal fund and that's 1 grand tax free just in time for the summer.
The only ones sweating will be the scabs!

Not sure I am excited about the amount in the strike fund.
$500M divided by 40000 strikers is $12500 per striker.
$1000/week would last just 3 months.
