Stress? What stress, instead of meetings, deadlines and answering to boss I am driving around clearing troubles failed to cable. No rules, no one watching, nothing to answer for, sunshine, fresh air and $$. Go home and wife has dinner waiting for me. They are honoring my upcoming 2 week vacation. I could do this for a while.

we have close to a thousand at our location and not one has walked off, the folks who manage our location BAU times say they hope the union never comes back, we come to work we are not calling out sick with a hangnail doing take one take five it's the easiest they have ever had it lol
Working the strike is easier than normal work with 15 crying craft . No complaining work getting done. We all are getting better everyday.

Work is easier because no one is doing any work.. Simple installs and drops.. That's it...No cell sites being turned it....no mux's being installed...simple fiber cuts taking days to fix instead of hours....

This plays great for everyone. By the time the summer come and the storms the repair queue will be a serious problem, just when the really serious problems set it. That's when the popo and the federalies pay attention too. Only 'skilled' workers can take care of that or repair what has been 'fixed'.
The OT is great and the work is getting easier now that I've been doing it for a while. My first day off and the weather's been great too. Striking in the middle of Spring wasn't the smartest thing, but whoever thought the Union leadership was smart. I have some friends in the Union and they think their leaders are a bunch of politicians but don't know what they are doing.
I hope this goes for a while - I'm thinking of getting a new car and the OT make a big difference.
Exactly. It is like 'Lord of the Flies' time. No rules, managers get to do what ever they feel like while stuffing their pockets full of cash. The work in most cases is shoddy or undone, which benefits the union. So everybody wins, who needs a win.

As much as the managers hate being yelled at it is actually a welcome money making vacation away from their d!ckhead directors and Catch-22 lifestyle in Dilbertville. The added benefit this time is that many of those d!ckhead directors are actually out in the field now too, and learning what 'work' actually means. They don't get time and half either. Priceless.

This is a blessing to both the managers and the company. The managers get an opportunity to put some needed present-valued cash in their pockets by the bundle, and the company ends up with some managers who have a new found education in how the business actually works - and doesn't work.
Weather is the only thing that will break the back of the 1st and 2nd line managers, because they know what is happening back at the ranch, and need to stuff their pockets with as much as they can. Some will talk some trash, but most actually hope that the union will win because of the arrogance at the top that has gone on since the last strike. There is no question inside the house that the company is going down a very wrong road. A strike is what will get it back on track, but until the weather from politics or the elements starts making its impact felt, the managers will keep stuffing their pockets.

I have heard them talk about retiring now, they were waiting to see how things were going to go if it worked they would stay if got to be to much they would pack it in.

I haven't heard any discussing walking off. Most want the OT. I want back to my regular job but it is not that bad... A few co-workers were sent out of state and them miss their family but none are talking about walking off..
