Obviously we, the people in the union, think that. Do you know who else feels like we are worth that? That's right, Verizon. All of you super smart, dedicated, people who are so brushed up on your "skill sets" seem to forget that Verizon feels the same way. Otherwise they would have never agreed to pay that much. As a matter of fact they seem to think we are worth more as per their own press releases they are offering us a 6.5% raise! So you should really start to ask yourself, how much are you worth since the company only pays you what you get? Maybe all of you non union people just have low self esteem? I don't know, maybe you should just go and demand what you are worth? But then again I wouldn't do that if I were you. You will probably get fired! Lol. Stop your crying about the union and stand up for yourselves. You people disgust me!

If your rent in NYC is $3000 and you only take home $3800 then you should probably try to find another job that pays you more so you can live more comfortably.

Well they think fiber splicers are worth $70+ an hour even though they only pay the union guys about $40.

Good for you. 3-4% raise is good. I'm glad you got it. You probably have no pension though and expensive healthcare. You like bigger raises and I like my pension and healthcare benefits. That's what you call negotiating. The sad thing though is you are probably one of the ewa people who were shipped across the country to do my job, which is a useless job according to some on this site. Ivx I guess you had too much Kool aid. My paycheck for the last 20 yrs just blows up your whole statement. As a matter of fact we aren't even asking for more money. The company is offering it. This strike is about job transfer with as little as 1 day notice to go work anywhere in Verizon's footprint for up to 2 months at a time. Fortunately we have a union of workers who are able to stand up to a huge corporation to fight for what is right for our family's. Sorry that you don't have that ability. That's not my fault or problem at this point. And as far as being out for ten days, who cares. That is relatively a short time and shorter than our last strike. And how do we turn this company upside down if we aren't needed? Your logic is flawed. The company agreed to our pay scale and like I said is willing to pay us more. Get a clue what is actually going on in the field, use your brain and realize this company is NOT on your side or the customers. 5g service? That's probably what your monthly bill will be when they cap your data. Fiber to the house is the most reliable and fastest service you will get. It's just doesn't make as much as the fat cats like but it's what the people want and as a matter of fact PAID for already through rate increases to the tune of 400 billion dollars. And before you come back with"corporations are in it for the money" that's all fine and dandy but robbery should not be the means to achieve it. When I'm in the field I have people everyday asking for fios. The company bigwigs don't tell you that in your emails because it's not in their interest to educate you with the real facts. So go sit in your cubicle in front of the computer screen that connects to the Internet on some old outdated plant and get a clue please.

I'm curious what the employee churn will be like after this is resolved. I think being flown out to do some one else's job is extremely disrespectful to every employee involved.
They can throw money at us, but I'd they treat us like sh-- I won't be sticking around. I'm young and live in a big city, finding company's hiring is not hard. I enjoyed my real job, but being forced to take part in executives political/strategic bullshit is absolutely insane.
That 6.5% raise is over 3 years. I have gotten a 3-4% raise every year at verizon. And that raise is based on my own merit, not the group.
Verizon generally pays really well across the board.
At the very least, I'm satisfied with what I'm paid and my yearly raises.

To answer your question, no you're not. Why do you think that Verizon has zero interest in coming to the table with a new proposal? Why do you think that today, in Day 10 of the strike, they've come back with absolutely nothing to try and entice the union to come back to work?
If the union came to work and did their jobs like the other 100k workers at Verizon then the answer would uneqivocally be 'yes'. Instead they are a consistent source of whining and complaining even when they get better benefits than everyone else in the company. Then every few years they turn the company upside down by walking out on their jobs because nothing is ever good enough for them. And after they walk out on their jobs, they sabotage the company by physically destroying property along with saying terrible things about the company in the media and on message boards like this. Would you want people like that working for you? Me either.
Right now the only reason you people still have jobs is because contractually the company's hands are tied. But I can guarantee you that not only does the company think you're not worth what you get paid, but no other company does either. You get paid well above market yet you're way too big a pain in the ass You aren't worth it in any way, shape or form.
Trust me I am not trying to court anybody to my side. I'm just showing some people that they should work on some basic logic and critical thinking skills. Just pointing out some facts that people choose to ignore. Most of their arguments just make no sense or are totally baseless. Their own master,Verizon, negates their points. I feel sorry for people who just can't see what the top earners in this country are doing to some and an argument based on" if I don't have it so you shouldn't" is a false premise. It is ignorance. The craft and union get paid what they get paid, because they deserve it. The do what the EWAs are doing, not just when things are sunny and easy like now, but when the wind is ripping down telephone poles and COs are becoming flooded. Or when someone blows up a couple of buildings and city blocks that had some serious trunk lines running through there. Ghost Busters dont do that sh--, the CWA and IBEW does. That is why we get paid what we do. If worked outside for a while, you would understand.
