Here is a question for all you anti union people. Since you are so against the principles of a union, why do you have health insurance? After all, health plans are just a large pool of people who use their combined bargaining power to lower health costs? How come that is ok but workers who basically do the same thing to bargain for better wages and job security are entitled? Why don't you just goto the hospital or your doctor and pay what the going rate for people without insurance pay? That would just make more sense to me since you are against collective bargaining. Ohhh, because it benefits you that's why. You are all just a bunch of crybaby hypocrites!!!

Unions have outlasted their usefulness. They used to serve a purpose back in the days before there were labor laws.
Now they basically protect bad employees and keep good employees from getting ahead. Unions reward people for seniority instead of for doing a good job, and a significant number of union members hide behind union bureaucracy while not lifting a finger to do more than the bare minimum.
At Verizon, the crap the union puts the company and other employees through just isn't worth it. You have the one business unit of the company that is the worst performer causing the most problems while the rest of the employees have to cover. And to make it worse the union actually gets things like pensions and free healthcare that the regular employees don't get. It's unfair and is basically socialism of the workforce.
I'm so tired of the union constantly being unhappy with EVERYTHING even though they get better pay and benefits proportional to the market than anyone else in the company. I'm tired of hearing them complain, I'm tired of having my work life impacted by them, and I'm tired of their narcissism. I can't think of even one positive thing they bring to the company -- not one.

I paid almost as much between my deductibles for my family, premiums(yes we actually pay towards our insurance) and co pays. Please inform yourself.

Speak for yourself. I have been there long enough to know better. If the union gets screwed, then we get screwed worse. All promises made to managers over a 20 period are fungible and fudgeable. So it is good to see the union digging in and taking a stand against all of the dreams they are chasing. As was adequately pointed out in yesterday's earnings announcement, traditional wireless and wireline segments are where the sales and earnings come from. Not from all of this crazy crap they keep thowing money at.
As an American, you used to have that choice, but thanks to Obama (and the unions that voted for him)' it is now illegal for you not to purchase "health insurance"
You guys are bargaining for your own faith, not ours. Don't always say you sacrifice yourself for all American workers. Non-union workers don't need your help, otherwise we will join the Union already.
