Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Dow 30 Stock Roundup: IBM, AmEx, Coke, JNJ Beat, Verizon Disappoints

Verizon disappoints. That seems to be their number one core competency.

Rather than focus on providing the best customer experience for the telecom dollar, the company would rather die its hair purple, turn LGBTXYZ and run-off to Hollywood and Silicon Valley.

So they come in on earnings exactly where expected, because that is one of the beauties of this business, but they disappointed when they did not announce finding any unicorns, despite investing tens of billions of dollars.

So they disappointed the street for treating it to an un-necessary strike drama with their union workers. Was there really any reason for not settling with the union before it came to this, relative to all of the investment dollars that have not yielded much?

That is exactly it. To the customers there is only 1 Verizon, but to Verizon executives there are many Verizons.

Keep a Fios customer out for two weeks and see how they feel about the Verizon wireless service. When people get upset with a company, all services are affected. A hated company is a hated company.

The street doesn't really give a crap about the wireline strike. The issue was that VZ missed on their revenue, largely due to weakness in wireless net adds. The street has already priced in softness for wireline ops, it is easy to forecast. You really can't mix these two issues.
