Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Dumb Pipes?

Since 1880 - long before the current crop of characters pretending to lead the company, then as now, we made bundles of money by hooking people up and allowing them to communication with each other.

Plumbing is not a sexy business, but somebody still has to do it. Sure I imagine that there is nothing quite like having the 10,000 square foot palace with 8 full-baths! But you still need a plumber.

Somehow somewhere in the warped thinking of lowmac and his pets it became unwholesome and unsexy to be the plumber. But plumbing is still where all of the money comes from, whether or wireless or wireline. And that is just a fact!

In a few years, in a few years, in a few years...

We were here before you were born and will be here after you are long gone...

People have a basic need to communicate and are willing to pay to be able to do so through any and all means possible. Right now in closely packed areas it is best to use wires.

In 5 years who knows what technological changes are to come? So you puruse all cash flow positive roads until you get there.

The world has changed.

You must be like a maker of buggy whips.

Do not need most them any more.

5G, FIOS, fewer landlines.

Used to be, if you got a raise, the cost was passed on, cannot do that any more

In a few years, the last mile will be 5G.

Wireline revenue shrunk again.

Lower revenue, few jobs.
