I don't understand why they stay in a job they hate and complain instead of finding something else to do.

Why do you care, move on and enjoy your life. What I do is my business, if I want a large pension buyout, it's none of your business.
This question gets asked every day. The answer is because they are sheep. They need someone to tell them what to do and when and how to do it. They cannot think for themselves I must hide behind the union for protection from the big bad company. They are even too blind to see that the union doesn't give a sh-- about them and has already sold them out just like they did the last time around only this time it's much much worse. Not two weeks this time. Not two months. There either back by the end of next week or they're gone for good. And good riddance to them.
If you are so unhappy about union members making a decent wage in the United states,why don't you move to China where you can live like a king with your education and work experience and manage 12 years old for 16 hours a day,6 days a week that aren't fat nor feel entitled. They will be happy with just a plate of rice.

Because they're too lazy to go find something else. It's easier for them to sit around on their large backsides. Plus, they are going to be unhappy with any company they work for because of their sense of entitlement so it makes more sense to them to stay put.
This is why there is such an anti-union sentiment in this country. Unions served a great purpose 70 years ago, but now they are just an outlet for lazy, entitled people to do less and get more.
