Just like Verizon better to take a fine than do things correctly in the first place THE TEMP WORKERS ARENT INSURED OR BONDED THEY ARE IN CUSTOMERS HOMES AND BUSSINESSES THATS A BIG LIABILITY BUT VERIZON WILL PAY THE FINE WHEN THEY ARE CAUGHT NOTHING NEW HERE. I WONDER HOW A CUSTOMER WOULD REACT TO A TEMP WORKER WITHOUT A BACKGROUND CHECK OR INSURANCE WORKING IN THEIR HOMES OR BUSSENESSES.

We aren't talking about the EWA / management workers the temp installers, service and splicers are not insured bonded and no background checks are being done. Its a verified fact they wouldn't get in my home or business.
The workers doing the work of the Union are other Verizon Employees, moved from their normal Verizon Position, not Temp workers. As for some of them, they have DOD clearances and full background check by Office of Personnel Management for the US government. I would have no problem with them coming in my house. I know that Verizon Employees go through a full background check and drug test in any job they perform. That is what my wife had to do for a secretary position, but she is happy to help her company filling in for the Union folks that walked off the job. In any other job in the US, you walk off you are fired. Why is the Union so special? Fire them all!!

znq, its called strategy. Strike strategy. the company is hitting the union where they think they will hurt them and the union is hitting the company where they think it will hurt them. Don't forget it takes two to tango, The company has as much responsibility in this strike as the union. Maybe they made it expecting not to lose that much, but they knew and to put in your terms its very stupid for the company to want to lose money .

Though I am not sure about the jobs that Verizon shipped to other countries. I did hear that the company got data breached once when it shifted work from the UK to India overnight to maintain coverage. I heard that breach is also why the company was also down on using the 'cloud' internally. Another of the company's many ironies.

@znq - You don't have to be so concerned about the decline in profit. When the strike is over, they'll start RIF'ing management (aka sheep to the slaughter) to offset the cost of doing business .... the Verizon way.

You union folks are bitter little people. Why not go work somewhere else if you have Verizon so much?
It seems very stupid for someone who depends on the company to pay their paycheck wishing failure on the company. The more the revenue falls the better the justification Verizon has for reducing the union contract.
Better matters, integrity is at the core of who we are.
