Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Tomorrow's The Big Day. Q1 Results.

Of course Shamwow and his clown show will lie their asses off about the numbers as always. Got to paint a rosey picture for the precious shareholders.

"How many executives in the banking and mortgage industries went to jail after 2008? Uh zero? Money can buy anything even immunity."

Spg: Sorry, you are misinformed. Execs who violate sarbanes Oxley have, in fact, gone to jail. See L&L ENERGY which was run by a former telco guy.

I have never seen more elaborate finance engineering than Verizon.

Shamwow even proposed a device payment bond for the investors to get suckered into buying. Bonds that borrow against future customer device payments. It's like a CDO for fuking cell phones holy crap.

Sarbanes Oxley what a fricken joke. I had to do those audits for Verizon Retail. Took me all about 10 minutes lol...

How many executives in the banking and mortgage industries went to jail after 2008? Uh zero? Money can buy anything even immunity.

Don't even tell me the whole device payment Shamwow put in place isn't rigged and is an honest way to report how devices are subsidized. More Shamwow smoke and mirrors.

It's all going to come crashing down someday and I will be there to laugh my a$$ off.

APQ - NOOOOooooooooo Manager in the accounting or Finance professions is going to falsify anything for a big public company. There is absolutely not enough money for the risk that one would have to take. So no manager will do it. Would some exec at the top maybe? You bet!

But all of the numbers on the way up have to be personally signed off on. So no manager is going to 'go down' or do time for a Lowmac or shamwow.

Will never happen here.

Can they use the rules to mix the numbers together to make it difficult for people to truly understand? You bet, as long as it is legal. No one wants to take it in the p--per in prison for lowel

The ax will come down on their heads eventually. The scum at the top can only lie and play dumb for so long. May they all burn for eternity in hell.

To apq: I still don't think you get my point. Bernie Ebbers and Kenneth Lay (Enron) paved the way for Sarvanes-Oxley- that is my point. No one at VZ is going to cook the books to share a cell with Bernie. These guys just don't do that, no matter what you or others feel. Follow? Thx !

@H1OkOxm-bzb No one "lies" about the results. They are what they are. But its all in the footnotes and the spin, and how well the spin is received. Because it is all about perception: buy on the rumor, sell on the facts. But facts have lots of different meanings.

In how many different places has VES been reorganized?

But there is only so much shining that you can do of a turd like go90 and other losers...

I look forward to the show and the spin.

But guys!

Can't we talk about Tami Erwin's business acumen? Apparently in the future, people will not want bloated cable packages anymore. What a Nostradamus! What a crazy world it will be in the future!

Dance with me Tami! Tonight we gonna party like its 2009!!!!

Which is why because of Ebbers' stupidity, Verizon smartly bought the company at fire sale rates.

bzb, many sr managers spend their time in prison for falsifying documents,,,, take for instance Bernie Ebbers --- In 2005, he was convicted of fraud and conspiracy as a result of WorldCom's false financial reporting.[1] The WorldCom scandal was, until the Madoff schemes came to light in 2008, the largest accounting scandal in United States history. He is currently serving a 25-year prison term at Oakdale Federal Correctional

You are really uninformed if you think any Sr Mgr is going to lie about quaterly results. If you think Shammo wants to spend his retirement in a Correctional Facility, you might realize that your post was sort of exaggerated. They may do everything else wrong and buy dopey things, but they don't present misleading financial statements (including the commentary about those financials). If you think otherwise, you might need some Sarbanes Oxley training.

"“The model is shifting rapidly,” Tami Erwin, Verizon’s senior vice president of consumer products, said in an interview. Consumers don’t want “a continuation of bloated packages,” she said. Rather, the idea is to get the shows people want, when they want them, to the devices they’re using."

WOW. Now I see why they pay her the big bucks. Thanks for the update Captain Obvious! How do I get her job?

More SarBox BS!. What a laugh.

No such things as "whisper numbers"?

No such things as teasers over lunch with a favorite banker who then has lunch with his favorite banker?

No dinner parties, no conferences, no tennis, golf outtinga?

But somehow, through some magic, the analysts consensus ALWAYS manages to come int with a penny or so.....

Yeah, I believe in Sarbanes Oxley like I believe Lowell tells the truth.

There's something called Sarbanes Oxley that and an Ernst and Young audit that prevents Shammi or anyone to do that. But you wouldn't know that ... Just a disgruntled unemployed union chap.
