Ineed! Lowell and his pet a$$wipes have painted themselves into a corner with their favorite brand of hubris. This is like a perfect storm of self-inflicted corporate calamity. And self-inflicted wounds are the worst ones!
They forgot to mention they missed earnings due to all the severance they paid out in Q1 from Q4 layoffs.
ibo, in the article:
"Verizon Communications Inc said profit in the first quarter met expectations as strong tablet sales helped it add new subscribers, though an ongoing strike by its wireline workers was expected to hurt earnings in the current quarter.
Did not say anything about the strike affeting profits
"I know the strike called by the CWA and IBEW leaders is on everyone’s minds right now. It is unfortunate that union leaders required our employees to strike. Most don’t wish to be off the job and we hope the union leaders will return to the table to close the remaining issues shortly.
"
from the release.
Without paying for 39K benefits, and salaries, profits will not be significantly affect.
The union will come back by the end of July, and accept mediation.
Better if they do that now, and allow there members to be paid.
To the union heads, and Lowell, put the ego at the door, and get this done.
Stay strong. I say that the company will give in by the end of August.
"However, the No. 1 U.S. wireless carrier stood by its full-year profit forecast."
Of course they did, we shall see.
