The next milestone date is the end of the month when health benefits freeze. Then a threat of lockout, then a final proposal for assisted mediation to make it clear VZ is trying to bargain in good faith and compare itself to other companies, then lockout.

A lockout is not going to happen, eventually there will be a contract and you can all go back into your holes. So enjoy, talk your sh--, pretend you're someone important or "in the know" when its all said and done you can go back to counting erasers in whatever one horse town your toothless, backwoods asscame from. All this is doing is postponing the RIF. Oh, that will come too. It always does.

Btw when unemployment kicks in together with the strike fund I will take home just as much as I would, with no OT, in a week. Just in time for some summer fun. Not a bad deal if you ask me. Nothing to see here. We did the same thing with unemployment in 2011 and every strike before then. It's just a formality. Lol, I laugh every time I read someone say the LOCKOUT IS COMING. Even if they did lock us out they CAN NOT hire permanent replacements. You idiots are too much! And in case any of you ewa'ers care to know. The company always has TEMP workers come and try and fill in. They would be stupid if they didn't. Brush up on basic labor law, learn that we are on strike for the company's lack of negotiation and find out that all they can do is hire TEMP workers. To make unions wait another couple of weeks to be able to get unemployment. Trying to make it painful. And I'm sure it is. But man the unions have the company by the balls and is exposing their hubris to the world, and the world is saying its ugly. The union workers need to hang on, they have the company on the run, right into a presidential election, where shipping good American jobs to the third world is one of the topics du jour.

Permanent vacation is what it sounds more like. It seems like the company views this strike is more of an annoyance than anything since it doesn't really hurt them financially in any significant way.

One guy I know says the lockout will equate to a large round of RIFs except the company won't need to pay any severance.

Ok, because you're new I will explain, nevermind.

In order to get state pols to put pressure on vz when they see hiw much $ tge state will have to hand out.

Verizon won't lock them out. Verizon isn't going to do anything. This was over on 4/13 as far as Verizon is concerned. Cross, stay out, doesn't make any difference to Verizon. CWA is finished at Verizon. The CWA leaders knew this. That's why they didn't walk in August. But they thought Bernie would save them, so out they went. Gone for good.

Because they want to inform striking workers of their options according to the laws. It gives them more money to live to go along with the strike fund. You really cant be that dump.
