Here are a few facts with recent links. The union employees should go find other jobs if they think they have it so bad at Verizon. If Verizon is below market on pay and benefits then these people should easily be able to go out and find more suitable work at another company.
The problem is that Verizon already pays above market with well above market benefits. Go find another company -- any company -- that will pay a call center employee who answers phones all day above $60,000/year plus full PPO premium quality benefits and pension+401k.
So these union people are demanding a sweeter deal when what they are already getting is well above market. The company needs to stand it's ground for the good of not only the company but for the other 100k non-union employees.
If Verizon gives in to these already-overpaid union people it will be at the expense of the non-union employees who already don't get pensions and free healthcare like the union people. It's not fair.
Not to mention they no longer have the Frontier workforce in FL, TX, and CA to rely on.
You are correct there. But you would be even worse off without them. Most managers know that if the union can't get this deal done, then the managers are totally screwed.
I resigned from Union because they are nothing more than liars who say and promise one thing but do another!
This former manager with almost three decades of telecom would rather believe the union than the current crop of Verizon execcutives. Inegrity is no longer one of Verizon's strong suits.
Right. Because the union never lies about anything to their members. Truthful and honest...all the time. Keep paying those dues for more honesty!
As a former non-union employee with more than a couple of strikes under my belt, what we are seeing here are company shills posting from inside basking ridge, to try to weaken the resolve of your fellow union memebers, or non-union members who are not working in the field who think that they are helping the 'V-team'.
The truth is that many if not most current and former managers are siding with the unions in this work stoppage. This is not 2011. You really need to win this one, and this time you really can.
The company has not adequately trained enough people, and of the group that they had trained, laid off about a third of them last year. Of those people who remain, almost none of then remember the brief training that they were provided. It is also the first time that they have so many directors and secretaries working I&M outside plant.
Good luck!
Here are some FACTS about the company. If you weren't already aware then sit down and take a deep breath. To much to handle in one sitting.

There are also posters here who are not happy with union and management, they see both as a negative to Verizon's bottom line. There are a few posters on here that have no skin in the game. The indication is how far off they are in what they post, have no knowledge of how the business is operated, possibly kids of families or friends and could be just trolls
I think the reason you see this, is a lot of fustration on both sides of the Union.
Some people like to troll, to get the union member fustrated.
The union members like to troll, to get the EWA workers fustrated.
Hopefully, this will not last too long.
