I would think not.
Op is a curtailed VZW Engineer and the laws of physics apply even to the rich. Landline side future is in fiber.
So I guess the OP and his union brethren think the proper solution is for Verizon to bank it's future on circuit switched networks and POTS lines.

The call execs that make false promises to investors paper hangers. Maybe Lowell and Bernie Ebbers are destined to share a cell. Maybe they can even work on a business for a new wireless company. Low-Bern Wireless
That article comes from the CEO of a competitor who doesn't have the money or talent to build a 5G network, and it's reposted here by someone who is in denial that newer wireless technologies are making wireline services obsolete.
