Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Just got a look at Friday's paycheck. Only 24 hours OT but a 5% jump in federal withholdings. Damn. I wonder what the 5-6 check will look like.

5-6 should have 88 OT hours. 12x7 sucks but I'll take all I can get.

C'mon what did you expect. The company wants to chisle these union guys out of their pensions, just like they did to the managers. They want to squeeze them for nickles so they can pocket millions. You know 'the they'. You know that they chisle you too. Every year. But you are still getting paid, so you don't say sh--.

So now, because this is America, these union guys are on strike, and you the lawyer, secretary and accountant are out there playing telephone man, with most being paid to did this - with overtime, on like $160 - 200K on an annualized basis. Do you honestly think that the company will not try to nickle and dime you to recover ANY of that money.

These are some cheap phuckkers people!

Keep good paperwork on your hours, and don't expect a big bonus next year.

@zjr sorry to hear that you're having a hard time of it. Try to communicate with your family as often as you can but don't complain to them at all about anything. Make all your communications positive even if you have to fake it. It will be over before you know it and you can treat your family to something nice with some of the OT pay.

@ZJR - DONT resign! You will probably be RIF'd after the strike is over anyway

op, be happy that your paycheck wasn't all screwed up. I have no desire to be doing this work as it has me far away from my family, cooped up in a lousy hotel room and to top it off my pay was short almost $400. Now I have to wait another week for the money that I have already worked for. Total BS, if a contract isn't reached by the 29th I'm resigning. Can't take the stress involved with this anymore and it's tearing my family apart. Best of luck to the union members.

12x7 is 84 hours

So you got 44 hours ot

Should be around 2500-3000 depending on your tax situation

That's a normal work work in fios.

VES aka "The Money Pit". Never mind the CWA, if the company were truthful, they would have fired or closed VES a long time ago.

Actually all of my VES IT coworkers that were RIF'd either have found better higher paying jobs at other companies or were re-hired by vz a few months later. Who would have known that developing and evolving your skillset into a high demand career path would have payoffs.....

It won't be enough to offset the amount of time that you will be out of work, when you are looking for a job after you are riffed. Just ask the folks that were riffed last year.
