VES will end up with CenturyLink or Altice. What's left of Wireline will gonto Frontier. I bet the contract the company is offering is similar to what the West Region Associates agreed to when they moved to Ftr.

Century Link, maybe. Although I'm not certain that they would have any interest in expanding their operations towards NE region. And it's not like they'll be able to buy VZ's wireline operations for pennies on the dollar like they did with Quest.

Level 3, not by a long shot.

The most likely buyer at any point in the game: Frontier.

No it's not. AT&T is slowly shedding it's wireline business like VZ is. The only companies who would have any interest in VZT are CenturyLink and Level 3.

AT&T sold CT which sat in the middle of VZ territory to Frontier and was happy to do so.

If they had any interest in acquiring landline territories, they would've gone for VZ's portion of CA, since AT&T already owns a chunk of that state. It did not happen.

Buying a heavily-unionized VZ's territories in the states that are currently on strike would be a suicidal move on AT&T's part.

That's outrageous! It'll never happen.
