Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Call center folks… What a joke! You people make $60,000 for sitting on your asspicking up the telephone??? What a joke! Go work at McDonald's. You people have everything, plus salary and that's still not enough for you. Makes me sick. Plenty of people would come to love and do your job for less money than that.

Guess you don't know all that a fios call center rep actually does. Not as easy as you may think. So to claim 60k is too much to pay a call center rep either you never worked in fios tech support or just don't have a clue. Have fun talking to people in India/Mexico that you can't understand and are just reading from troubleshooting flow charts. When it comes down to actual troubleshooting and getting a issue fixed they have no clue.

$60K is outrageous for a call center rep. On an hourly basis, they make as much as many nurses do.

Another reason people don't quit and find a job they like better, is the crap economy and job market. Verizon is taking advantage of the poor job environment to take away from their workers. I am sure if there were more good jobs out there, many would leave VZ. It is currently a horrible place to work. But people have families and people depending on them. Not everyone is 25 years old, unmarried, and childless.. In fact I have heard that a lot of young people, when they find out how many weekends they will be required to work at Verizon, seek employment elsewhere.

It is the middle aged workers with dependents who are trapped at Verizon for the time being.

Perhaps he is NOT happy in his job since it bothers him SO much that there is a Union, or that anyone would DARE to complain. So I suggest he should quit or even better leave the country!

The person you are referring to in the OP isn't unhappy with his job (apparently) so why should he/she be the one to quit? That makes absolutely zero sense.

Regardless, what he was saying has merit. If you don't like your job then why not quit and go find a job you do like instead of sitting around and complaining? Unions encourage people to be lazy complainers instead of productive employees.

I used to feel sorry for non-union Verizon workers when I saw how badly the company was treating you. Now I realize you are all just a bunch of Haters. The company screwed you but you are mad at the Union.

Detroit was killed by the unions. All other manufacturing and service companies are moving out of the country just like Verizon wants to do. Yes the unions are killing this country. To pay a call center person here over 60k with benefits is crazy. If Verizon dies off than so does the union workers. So just keep it up and you will be out on the street for sure. Make sure you pay your dues. Upper union and management need the money to play golf after their talks everyday.

Why don't you Union people start your own blog. This blog was originally for all Verizon employee's who have gotten let go by the company hence that is why it is called "Thelayoff.com". Why don't you Union folks start your own blog and call it "Thegreatunion.com". Seriously you people are the must ignorant, obnoxious group of humans. Nothing but low class.
