Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

Centers

This is how I see it I have noticed that when a center is marked for closure, they send more calls and give massive overtime directed from a center that has already closed. Then it continues on to the next center. So if your center had a few months of massive overtime and back to back calls but has since turned into a ghost center. My advice is to seek employment elsewhere. All calls will eventually be sent to Eastern Europe. The only call center that will remain in the us will be Texas. With a small miner of offices scattered about the us solely for support for directv and what is left of uverse

When you say TX, it doesn't seem like it at all!!!

Very Nerve wrecking when rumors say more center to close down, and wondering is it my center. 🙁

Yeah that's the att way. Acquire a new company. Then implement "changes" which means you're getting replaced eventually. Then bombard the new acquired call centers with call after call while they open another overseas site and train the replacements. Att does this so the overworked, stressed employees will eventually quit so they don't have to provide unemployment payouts. Some of the newly acquired sites can get the upper hand though. I bet if you speak with a lot of those folks being canned for "minute" things, they are probably relieved. Because now they are unemployment eligible instead of quitting. My best advise is to show up and do your job but only do what you want. A sure way to get canned and get unemployment is to tank your performance. So be nice,be on time, but don't sale anything. They will get rid of you very quickly like that

I am at the Denver Tech site for Directv tech support and things have totally changed. This use to be one of the best sites paving the way for other sites. Now I fear that I will come in one day and the whole place is closed. People are quitting left and right or getting canned for very minute things that would have otherwise resulted in a small casual talk. Not closing during the March blizzard left everyone sick to their stomach. You had to use your time off if you wanted it paid even though the building was closed. They are taking forever to get union reps in here to speak with us for some reason. No such thing as a paid snow day at AT&T! we are constantly busy ever waking moment with a flood of calls that obviously opened everyday at the same time. People around the center say its due to low staffing but it is not. All the new overseas reps have no idea what they are doing and are just encouraged to sale sale sale! No more 4x10 hour shifts, harder to bonus now, forget about getting a day off approved with the new schedule system! I'm just riding it out till they fire me and I will get my pension...oh yeah they are proactively giving some pensions on last check which tells me that AT&T will not have any pension program...this place sucks and I no longer work for Directv...I dread working for AT&T

Recently centers in California had manditory overtime last year for months at a time, then slow period for about a month.. Then BAM over an hour wait time, promises of call backs, over 1000 on a list to call back and no end in site of call after call which are little or no sales opportunities only complaints and cancelations due to higher rates. So anyone that has seen a closure is this the pattern?
