Will the workers that were the laid off still be part of the negotiations? They were sacrificed for the sake of the union contract are they still relevant they got screwed for the workers still there will you stand up for them?

nobody in their right mind would take that! maybe,if you were single and only wanted to chase the money. but guess what? VZ would just send you packing somewhere else. no way to live or raise a family. and for all the people hired before the '03 contract, if JSL gets changed, they will be screwed too.
I was forced transfered from philly to pgh in '09. Even i didnt take that sh--ty deal. I was 90% sure i would up until last 3 days before i got laid off. The deal was so bad that it would cost me thousands. Company screwed me once. Then they wanted to screw me royaly. Not just me but my wife and son too. Dont dare to even call that an option. Its always easy looking at it from the outside in until it happens to you. They offered the transfer just to avoid legal issues. They knew no one would take it. Who in their right mind would.
3quv----yes they did have the right to transfer to Philly. Harrisburg to Philly 90-100 miles. Pgh to Philly 300+ miles. Quite a large difference

These worker like others in Harrisburg had chance to transfer to Philly.
Union's idea of leadership:
Monday: "work as much o.t. as you can, be ready to strike."
Tuesday: "we can't strike, they're ready for us."
Wednesday: "get your eight, then skate."
Thursday: "if you want the o.t., work it."
Friday: "wear your black shirt."
Saturday: "wear your red shirt."
Sunday: "MOBILIZE, MOBILIZE, MOBILIZE!"
bottom line.......do whatever you want, just keep paying those dues.
Why don't we ask for these names to be posted? If they really gave a sh-- about jobs, they would tell us to STOP working the overtime. Instead they tell us to work it in case of a strike. This leadership is driving me crazy. More jobs are going to be cut if we don't watch what we do. As a company why would they hire another person when they squeeze more out of you?

Management laughs at this idiotic clothing display. Hell, they even gave us the shirts to do it. Might as well eat the donuts too. On second thought, the whole shop does eat all the donuts. Look how weak our union has become. Can't believe we pay for this representation.
We all know who the overtime pigs are...don't we. It's nice that they helped the company keep the laid off people out of work. If it weren't for these guys, the company would need to bring back the unemployed. Just think, if it's you that is laid off next, these pigs will gladly fill your shoes.
So true, at the end it's all about one thing. From the CEO to the techs all about that money. Nobody cares anymore about looking out for each other. The reason you see people walking picketing is for themselves. Don't think it can't happen to you. Why feed into the company's bullshit and do what they want. Stand up and say no thank you. If there is work to be done hire more people. Should have to make people to work themselves to death. The company makes enough money to hire people instead of paying overtime and working people to death. You want job security? Stand up and saw no thank you to O/T. By doing all of overtime, it just shows the company that they can let people go and our "brothers and sisters" will clean up their mistakes.
I love being 1 of those laid off and getting to hear of certain techs bragging about making 150k and more last year with all the extra hours.
It was in Pittsburgh and why did you think it's not possible?? They offered an eisp because they claimed to have a surplus. They didn't get any takers and anyone after 2003 does not fall under the no layoff clause so they got fired. Then not too long after that the company was forcing the remaining techs to work 12 hour days 6 days a week... The company is disgusting!

Will the union members stand up and fight for those laid off? I promise you these wonderful "Union brothers and sisters" wouldn't even stand up and fight for their own mother if she was forced to work in a wh--ehouse. The Management people are just as gutless, but at least tell the truth, as least to themselves. Those laid off workers are gone. Face reality and drop the bs. Union members are, selfish and uncaring and will do nothing for their fallen comrades.
Once your employment is terminated, you are no longer part of the equation. You need to move on.

Pittsburgh PA Fios workers were laidoff the union let the company walk all over the remaining techs in East Liberty and the techs that were left just took the overtime and ran with it with the unions blessing.
Pittsburgh techs were laid off the union did nothing for them. We need them back just to maintain the workload.
