Verizon has loads of resources, what do you think a strike will accomplish? You strike and they have people to replace each union person. And then you come back to work after a few weeks and have you forced Verizon's hand? NO! Get a grip

I'm married to a associate, he tells me all the time about a fair contract. And I tell him to shut up and do the dishes. (He hates that joke)
We both think a strike won't happen this time, but have an opportunity to make a lot of money from this company between his OT now, and mine during if a strike is called.
I just realized why we haven't going on strike yet the union as you than what's members to call people and say vote for Bernie Sanders. If we call the strike then we would have no choice but to stand outside and nobody would be calling and asking people to vote for Bernie Sanders. Again the union Has their own agenda and put themselves before their members. They talk about the Verizon leadership but they should look in the mirror before they start judging.
We need to post this info where everyone sees it. Get on your locals Facebook and the CWA one. Post comments and encourage everyone to call in. Post the numbers to call. Let's flood the lines until they listen. My brother works at a call center and he told me they the moral is weak there. You have members being bullied by management because they know they don't have a contract. This bullshit of telling managers we want a contract doesn't do squat. These mid level managers don't have any control. In my garage my manager doesn't want a strike. He did the job and knows the hard work. He also knows if we strike and God forbid we don't come back he will loose out either his job or most definitely his salary. One thing you need to remember is that the managers we interact with everyday don't have any pull. They want to get us the tools we need and the resources. They have numbers to show we just get paid hourly and are protected. So yeah I have told my manager anyways we want a contract but after a few times I knew it was wasted breath. Why talk to someone who has no say? We need to talk and bring our concerns to the leadership who is paid to represent us. What are they doing besides spending money on campaings? TV ads that people don't watch because we sell them DVRS or they stream? Have they really thought this out? I mean enough is enough. Take out an ad on the businesses of the board of directors. Call them out and their own business. Talk about how they elected someone like Lowell and how he want to take from us. Get their names out there and trust me they will force him to change his tune. When they are the face of the issue, which they elected him to take all the heat, things will get done. Right now all this ad is doing is falling on deaf ears.
1egq, this is why membership needs to take control and everyone needs to be calling the local offices all day, every day, until leadership listens and strikes as we voted for back in July.
@1fou - Our union leadership is bought and paid for! You think when we strike it will go long? Hell no. They'll do just like last time and suddenly come up with a contract right before they have to start sending out the checks.
@1aaf, "remain calm," try telling that to our members who were unjustly laid off and have been hurting for nearly a year. If we would have went on strike in August, our laid off members would be back to work and we would have a new contract. This is a repeat of the last contract, our leadership screwed us again and our laid off members have been completely disregarded.
Ignore the nay sayers, most will be on the outside looking in sooner than later. Focus on the post. We as the membership need to take control of the current situation because it is clear that union leadership doesn't have our best interests in mind. Are we going to really "stand up and fight" or are we going to settle for another bad deal?
Everyone needs to remain calm. A strike at this point is imminent. It is going to happen. The company is not budging, and it's going to take a strike to get this done. How good the contract will be, is going to be determined by the resolve of the Union Members. I firmly believe the company has miscalculated there judgment in that they can do business as somewhat usual with out the Union workforce. They can not, and will not. The top leadership has been walked down the garden path by the yes men managers/directors, that has assured them that they will hold there own in a work stoppage. When it's clear they can not, the Company will ask the Union back to work, and to continue bargaining. And there the Union will get a contract somewhat like the one they have now.
