@2nbe You guys sound like spoiled brats. I've worked outside in the freezing cold, not able to feel my fingers. Sweated my ass off crawling around, busting my ass to make my customers happy. Worked more hours than I should have in a row, but never complained that I was being 'treated unfairly'. I worked like that because it was the right thing to do. Union members don't have work ethic any more. This is a demanding job if you want it to be, it's also the easiest if you let it.
Work your two tickets a day and cry about bad treatment.. it's the union way.

The poster with all the negative comments about unions and the supposed 12 year old that could do the job is really a troll probably sitting in the BR social media room. I'll bet you think the company loves you, but at some point you and a few thousand others will get the boot just to help the stock price go up a nickel. Comparing the union to the military is insanity. Verizon union installs phone lines... they do nothing as respected as our airmen, sailors, soldiers, marines, fd and police. Even placing yourselves in that circle shows how disillusioned the union Kool-aid drinkers are.

Unions do not have their members interest at the forefront of discussions. Only the lining their pockets and the pockets of politicians interest them.
I've had the (mis)fortune of working with union techs for years and they are one of the worst groups of people to work with. Always complaining, doing as little as possible and trying to find someone e else to blame for their piss poor work.
This union acts like installing fios is akin to a magical rite that you have to know the special phrase to get it right. No, I could train my 12 year old to do it. Hell, he'll probably get more done.

British Prime minister Margaret Thatcher broke the back of the U.K. unions in the mid 80s after a year long strike that caused food shortages and the elderly to die of hypothermia. 30 years on the uk Unions have never recovered and, thankfully, that country has never again been held to ransom by thug unions.

@rny - These union jobs aren't difficult and can easily be staffed with trainable people. Yes, there is knowledge that is local but it's a speed bump, not an all-stop. The lockout will be happening soon.
If the contract was done do you think the union would spend money on an Ad. They don't want to spend a dime from the strike fund but they spend money on an Ad that is not going to make a bit of difference except make company probably mad. Any contract now will be $#'t.
