Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

IBM leads the way in churning through talent. They are masters at this game. IBM views the cost of a Resource Action as a cost of doing business. They definitely do not care about the people they hire. But does any any large company really care?

Like most organizations, IBM views people as a commodity that needs to be managed in the same way as a manufacturing company looks at the cost of raw goods, like steel, cotton, or copper. They will get this commodity - people - from the cheapest source available.

The benefits offered by most companies are pathetic when compared to where we were prior to the Globalization of our economy. As long as people from third world countries are willing to work for less, live with 10 people in a small house, and be happy with no benefits, the cost of talented workers will stay depressed.

As long as the US is willing to buy cheap stuff from China, India, Mexico, etc., where cheap labor is the norm, we will continue to see this churning of talent.

This is when the punches will start being thrown and Washington will demand a CEO and CFO's scalp. The country is already bordering on a politial revolution.

You can safely bet your next paycheck on this one, as VZ got the idea to rip-off the employee pensions after IBM did the same.

That said - this will likely lead to much chaos and payback within and without the company.

Agree. I think its inevitable that VZ will follow suit. The management does not care for employees on engaged in the core network business of the organization. The margins on both wireline(if they exist) and wireless are dropping fast. They are looking for the next gold nugget that will earn them their multi million bonuses.

SO wise up and volunteer for the RIF before the policy changes.
