We need to get out before this happens. I am talking to my manager about volunteering for a RIF on Monday.

I would not be surprised at all (RIF'd 12/2015). I heard rumors (in the hallowed halls of Basking Ridge) before I left: severance and health benefits would be reduced in 2016 and oncoming years RIFs

All you Verizon fanboys, why come to this site at all? This is for Verizon haters, which there are plenty of because Verizon treats people like GARBAGE. Go start your own little Verizon fanboy site and piss off.

Looks like the VZ social media team is working this board as well !!

We all know how corporate america works - you just need 1 company to take the 1st unpopular step and then all follow suit "to protect shareholder value".

Remember Yahoo frowned on work from home and VZ followed suit within a few weeks.

We can bury our heads in the sand or be aware of whats happening.

Agreed! Troll. Inflammatory emotional headline, reinforced with cuss words directed at company.

Standard fair on this board these days, especially when the boards owners are trying to boost visitor traffic, else the advertisers will stop paying for ad inserts, including vz.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Verizon lowers the severance amount. I think I was lucky and got kicked out in November with 35 weeks of severance.

Regardless of whether there is any proof that Verizon plans to reduce severance to one month, the fact that IBM just did it is certainly reason to think other large corporations may follow suit, and one would be naive to think Verizon has not at least discussed the possibility.

Furthermore, any decision to do such would be a tightly guarded secret. Experienced and talented employees who managed to elude past layoffs and have been sticking it out because "at least the severance is good" may change their minds and leave before Verizon is done with them.

If the mighty IBM is cutting severance to 1 month, it is a distinct and real possibility that it can happen elsewhere, including Verizon.

Just because there is no proof does not mean it will not happen. I would be very worried.

IMO Post is designed to draw an emotional response. Notice how the blog opens with "coming soon to you?" That's a clear attempt to personalize the issue, pushing into the face of the reader. A blatant, clumsy and amateurish, attempt to bait decent, but worried, working people.

Troll anyone!

Do you know vz is going to do the same? Do you have proof? We're you told this? if so by whom or is this your belief?
