Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

70,000 Installations not being done according to Tami Erwin President of FIOS

That is a two week number, ad that to all the service outages, and customers fleeing for other providers. not waiting for repairs. The revenue alone is staggering. How much longer does this continue? Remember the Union is not asking for one nickle. It's the Billion dollar a month profit Verizon who's CEO gives himself raises that wants concessions for there workers. Not a good way to treat the people that has made you rich.

I wouldn't be surprised if VZ had the 70k backorder for the last six months.

If Verizon are willing send people to training instead of returning to negotiate with the Union. It isn't a good sign for union side.

They sure can't complete the FIOS build out now with the workers on strike, nor would they want to even start the build out with the possibility of strike being held over their heads.

They should just outsource that buildout to a third party. That's the only way it will get done correctly.

all a bunch on union lies.

If there is 70K not being done, then there was 71K before the strike.

Customer satisfaction at an time high.

NO ONE cares about your silly strike.

You lose

Hopefully no one dies this time being forced to complete their pole climbing training.....Oh you didn't hear about that when it happened, I thought McA*hol posted the story on LINKEDIN. Most likely little Marc Greed had the story pulled.(He is running the show)..Maybe Marni can post a training video on Blo90 and the V-Teamers will be all done with their training remotely.

Meh - Verizon knows they're losing customers but those are low revenue customers in a low revenue part of the business. This isn't 1989 where POTs lines were major revenue to the mothership so none of it matters from a financial perspective. Plus, Verizon is selling off that piece of the business at the earliest opportunity.

Verizon will let this go on as long as they legally are required to then lock out the remaining union people and move on.

Verizon are sending people to VA to take the Fios installation training.

Actually, customers fleeing away from Verizon is a potentially a good thing given the situation. That way Verizon can cite further revenue loss with whatever method they use to terminate the union workers. The company already felt like the union was a drain, and customer attrition will just give them more legal reason to get out of the business and/or reduce the union workforce.

To Verizon the revenue for FIOS and other consumer wireline services is very low and relatively insignificant to the company's overall bottom line, so it won't affect Verizon overall if they lose customers in that space or decide to get out of the business altogether.

Hey V-teamer...if you got your head out of Lowell's assfor a second you would know that this information came directly from the "horse's mouth" ! See Below.

The company has deployed about 20,000 non-union workers to fill in for union workers.

A one-day-old strike by nearly 40,000 Verizon Communications employees is causing equipment installation delays for new Internet and TV customers, a Verizon executive acknowledged on Thursday.

Workers of Verizon’s Fios Internet, telephone and TV services from network technicians to customer service representatives walked off the job on Wednesday in one of the largest U.S. strikes in recent years after contract talks between unions representing them and the company hit an impasse.

The company, which is focusing on repairs and service for its existing customers, said networks were running well.

“We do have a bit of a delay,” said Tami Erwin, Verizon’s Group President – Consumer and Mass Business Sales and Service, said. “We’re working hard with customers to prioritize repair above activations and provisioning because we owe that to our existing customers.”

In a week or two the company should be able to do new installations, she said. It normally has about 30,000 to 35,000 of them each week, with over 30% of customers opting to do a self-installation.
