Wow the comments are measured and reasonable. Meaning of course that there's no union presence to drag down the general IQ.

@bde: The reason they stick around and complain is because no other company in their right mind pays call center employees $60k a year like Verizon does. They can't get better jobs anywhere else, so they stay at Verizon and complain.

They are about to get a steaming pile of reality when they get locked out in a week and a half. There isn't another company on this planet that will pay them what they make at Verizon plus the benefits they get.

And everyone in this country knows a 60k/year call center person or 80k a year field technican are paid much higher than the market for their jobs, which is why no one is exactly reaching out to hire them.

If these people had any market value other companies would be hiring them and they wouldn't have to strike.

Well then they must not be very smart if they've spent that length of time working for a company they don't like.

If someone doesn't think their company pays them enough then most people would go find a job that pays better. Odd.

@GZcf8U4-bde because they have invested and contributed far more into Verizon than you have.

Why don't the union employees quit and go somewhere else if they are so unhappy? If they think they aren't getting paid enough money then wouldn't they go work for someone else who will pay them what they deserve?
