@jvi lol....no they need fios installers to install fios... We actually need more than 39k people to run our network.... Fios techs have been on forced overtime for months at a time. They just hired 97 union fios techs at my garage.. You seem to have it all figured out though..
So what? They don't need 39,000 people to manage whatever VZ circuits are supporting the wireless network. They don't need FIOS installers to manage the wireless network either.
The Wireless company orders the circuits, and designs/manages their network. They could order the circuits from VZ, AT&T, Level 3, or whomever they want. They don't need 39,000 field techs and call center people to run their network, and their profits have nothing to do with what the 39k people on strike do. Quit trying to ride on VzW's coattails.
Yes and Thursday mobile pays out the assignment for those circuits. We have orders before last Wednesday of over 100 vz wireless sites needing fiber....muxs.....pmd testing.....Verizon wireless is spending Hugh amounts of money upgrading towers. Verizon wireline is doing all that work. They can spin the profits however they want, but bottom line wireline is alot more profitable than vz let's on.

The wireline runs almost all Verizon wireless towers on the network.... no wireline....no cell phone will work.
Who is the economics major? That 10% you speak of is not a profitable 10%. If anything it drags the rest of the company down. The poster was correct when he/she said the 10% boat anchor that is the wireline business doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. If it was lopped off the rest of the company would be that much better financially which is why you see that business being sold off to Frontier all over the place.
Wireless DOES exist without wireline, T-Mobile does it every day. You buy the wired circuits from a cheap provider like Level 3 and put in your wireless infrastructure. VzW does not necessarily need VZ Wireline to survive -- they are separate business units and I'd be shocked if VzW didn't have third party wireline circuits in a lot of areas due to cost.
Wireless needs wireline circuits, but it doesn't necessarily need Verizon Wireline with is a separate business entity.
UGLY MAP
when your $130 billion in debt you bet that 10% affects the bottom line, your not an economics major I see. Your minimizing other peoples money.
Any who thinks wireline is not important, just remember. WIRELESS does not exist without wireline.
Do you think those towers communicate with each other and the central offices wirelessly?
Not a chance. There are copper cables, fiber optic cables, and switches needed to run wireless. And do you think these corporations needing huge/fast data can get it wirelessly?
Wake up. Wireline is the backbone of Verizon
No one has said Lowell doesn't care. They've just said it's not like it impact the bottom line of the entire company significantly. I'm sure he does care, but it's doubtful he's losing tons of sleep over it.
If you think the 10% or so that wireline contributes to the bottom line is going to make or break the company then you have no clue what you're talking about.
ezi, another statement that is fundamentally not sound. The wireline side makes money . And if not for the wireline side there would be no wireless. The money from the wireline side funded the wireless purchase. Read the financials from the inception you might be surprised.
Do you people realize how ridiculous you sound when you say Lowell doesn't care about the wireline ? For you to be correct he would have to run down the wireline side and lose its customers, then he would not even be able to sell it, then it would be worth a lot less or nothing, how stupid is that. Try selling that to the stockholders.
Everyone expects there to be some issues during a strike. This is no surprise. And it's not something that can or will impact VZ's bottom line because the vast majority of revenue and profit come from wireless.
May 5th is the Annual Meeting when Lowell and his toads will have to explain to the shareholders how they were able to steal defeat from the jaws of victory by trading cash producing assets for pipe dreams like go90 and hum.
On May 5th Lowell will have to explain how his troops were less prepared for a strike in 2016 than they were in 2011, despite spending more than $50 million on training.
On May 5th Lowell will have to explain why it is that he keeps investing $billions of the shareholders money on projects that just don't work or investments in companies like Hughes and Terramark that have not even come close to what was promised.
@kxp, not sure what the point of placing the disclaimer was? While everyone knows the map itself may not be 100% accurate, the one thing or in this case the many things that are 100% accurate are the comments listed by the irate customers.
What's happens may 5th?..... nothing

What happens on May 5th?
Yep. Verizon is definitely hurting right now. We will be back may 1st. If not sooner... So rest up Cwa and get ready for 12 hour days. Just talked to a couple mangers, thing are still out of control..
And Lowell cares because... ? He doesn't give a damn about the wireline side or the wireline customers.
@GZ1oZXr-wik so you pu$$ies are not even working out in the field. That makes sense. May 5th is coming!
Judging by what we are hearing in the office Today would he a good day tp update your resume :)
*actual
@GZ1oZXr-kxp sorry scab. You incompetent SOBs couldn't find your a$$es with both hands.
Did any of you actually check the outage table instead of the heat map? I see an average of around 9 submitted user reports of an outage with a few times where it spikes to 25 reports in an hour. I don't doubt that we will have more service disruptions without the techs in the office but to attempt to use this as an actual source for an outage report is laughable. Especially since the website doesnt actually verify the outage, its based on reports alone which means anyone, including union, can falsify reports to it even if there is no actually outage. Hmmmm.

@GZ1oZXr-yec no worries about losing "the house", COMA, because I am using yours to bang your wife while you are outside making believe that you are a manly man. Love these 12 hour days with her, so does she.
Lets never let this little link wander too far to the bottom so that we can see exactly how poorly Lowell and Mudge and Reed and Shamwow prepared for this strike.
Yes - SCABS
"a worker who.....who takes a striking worker's place on the job, or the like."
Scabs are the lowest form of life in the economy. They have no morals, no principles, no souls. Kind of sounds like you!
yec, loves, comma's,
comma, comma, comma, comma.
Can someone please post the outage link on both the CWA FaceBook and Twitter sites. I'm not a user of either of those social media outlets. And yes, I still use a landline.
No, scabs, just lying, S-head union trolls.
Hope you lose the house toad.
Wait a minute! I thought that Verizon scabby managers hated the color Red. If that is so, then how come all I see in the Verizon footprint is RED, RED, RED? Cant you SOBs fix anything?
Great job strike scabs! Now you can go home and tell the kiddies that not only did you screw your fellow employees and countrymen, but that you helped to destroy the reputation of a once great company. Verizon managers must not have any souls.
@GZ1oZXr-tkp time to take off your knee pads douchebag and dust off your resume, because you are going to be riffed once the strike is over, and that will be a just moment in America.
@sjm GETTING SCARED! You should be. When are you getting your next paycheck? Is your Union honchos going to subsidize you in the coming weeks?
The threat posed by Verizon isn't just financial - it's a full-blown assault on the American dream. Where's the incentive to play fair and do well, when what we see rewarded at the highest levels of Verizon is failure, stupidity, incompetence and meanness? If this is what winning in our system looks like, who doesn't want to be a loser?
Lowmac Douchebag had a telecom
EWA, EWA Oh!
And on that farm he had a mudge
EWA, EWA Oh!
Here a trouble, there trouble
Everywhere a touble, trouble
Lowmac douchebag had a telecom
EWA, EWA oh!
Keep up the good work! The lost revenue will be coming out of your severance after the strike!
